This campsite is quite easy to find, although the access is via a single lane so you need to be aware that an \'outfit\' may be coming in your direction! Plus there are two other campsites close by.
Being recommended by the caravan club, I was a little disappointed that the pitches were smaller than I expected. We had a serviced pitch, so that might be the reason. But there was a motorhome pitch on one side and a camping pitch the other, so in the end it was not a problem. I would have felt bad if another caravan had needed the space on the pitch we had overlapped onto!
Other than that, this is a lovely, lovely campsite, the owners Aline and Stefan are great, they cannot do enough to help. Stefan has an old jeep that he uses to pitch caravans, which he did for us as our mover wasn\'t working properly!
The toilet facilities are excellent, and kept spotlessly clean. The push button in the showers only works for about 8 secs so you are continually having to press it, a minute would be nice! We didn\'t use the pool, or the sauna, Jacuzzi so can\'t comment on that. There is a really good indoor communal area with good free wifi and a TV, especially useful when its raining, which it did quite a lot! There is camper\'s kitchen with microwave, oven, hob, kettle, toaster, fridges, freezers plus tables and chairs - excellent idea, especially as we had a couple of thunderstorms.
The views are breathtaking. Our first morning was sunny and we had amazing views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau.
The public transport system is excellent. There is a bus about 5/8 minutes walk from the site which takes you into Interlaken where you can connect to trains and buses to all over the area, and the rest of the country!! Both of these are free or greatly reduced with the guest ticket you can get from the campsite.
We cycled into the town most days. If you need to do a big shop, there is a big Migros (in a shopping centre) near the west station and a huge Co-op near the east station. The cheapest fuel we found was near the Hotel Beau Rivage - on the way to the east station.
The rest of the area is down to your choice. We took the cable train up to Shynige Platt and got good views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau, as well as all the other peaks around. We also drove up to Stechelberg and did a long hike at the head of the Lauterbraun Valley, on the way back we went to the Trummelback Falls - spectacular. We had a bike ride from one lake to the other and then sat in the park in the centre outside the Jungrau Grand Hotel, watching all the tandem parachute flights landing.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this campsite and Interlaken in general for a great place for a mountain holiday....
