Travelling party: Family with children <4 years

We have booked a short break at Marlie park after we have visited a park down the road on multiple occasions over the years where we never had any issues.

This park we have not been to before, we have been checked into caravan D6, shortly after we have arrived my partner complained about being bitten, I though that this will be just mosquitoes as we are surrounded by nature and haven’t thought much of it. This was Friday late afternoon. My partner kept being bitten every time we have stayed at the caravan. On Saturday night I spotted little black dot on my foot after feeling a sharp pain. I have bent down and caught a flea and captured it. I have rung the night time warden as this was after hours and informed him of this. He said that there is not much he can do but will log it to the system and asked me to bring the physical evidence to the reception. I have asked him whether we can move immediately as this is very disturbing, we all including my two year old are getting bitten and do not wish to stay in the caravan, he replied that they are fully booked and we can leave or wait until the morning to talk to the receptionist, by then our 2 year old was fast asleep so we had to stay. I have attended the reception first thing in the morning and brought and handed the evidence (flea in a jar) to the receptionists. I have been told that there is not much they can do for us as the manager is off but will get back to me on Tuesday as Monday is a change over day (this was Sunday) and to send and email to the manager which I have done. I have told the receptionists that we will be leaving on the day as we cannot stay in flea infested caravan. Nevertheless one of the receptionists admitted that there were and are flea and bed bugs issues on this and other site she has worked at. Great!

I have emailed Tamzin and after chasing got a reply that they are awaiting a flea report from their pest control.

After chasing Tamzin again she then rung me and to my horror told me that there is no flea issue in the caravan and basically told me that we have brought the fleas in ourselves! I have told her that we do not own a pet and haven’t been bitten prior to our visit, we live in a clean and safe environment. She then told me I could have brought them from the outside such as grass areas, which according to number of pest controls I have spoken to is utter nonsense, pets are carriers and the chances of this are so minimal its just ridiculous. I have told her that I will be getting pest control report for my property and I will forward the bill to holiday park Marlie/parkholidays as I am certain that the issue does not come from us, I am expecting to be compensated for having to prove I am not at fault. I have recorded this phone call and may anyone from senior management wish to hear it please do contact me I am happy to provide this. Not to forget to mention, I have been offered goodwill gesture of a voucher for £50 which is absolutely laughable after the inconvenience and being basically told that we are the issue, no, thank you, we will never stay with you guys again. I would have appreciated refund, which I would have used towards my flea spray, energy bill, washing powder and time I had to spend on fixing your mistreatment. It would still not cover the cost!

I have got all correspondence, phone recordings and report for fleas for my property available.

***Be aware of this park and service you may receive. They will not help you when you need help/when something goes wrong, yet here on poor reviews they say that you should have informed them there and then, and then they will shift blame on you for their own benefit and possibly falsify information to their convenience. Nevertheless I have spent hours of my time sanitising everything that has been in contact in the caravan including my car, paying for flea sprays and washing absolutely everything including clothes we never wore, unfortunately I have taken way too many, super annoying. Very annoyed after an exhausting ruined break that turned out to be an absolute horror.***

Inspected annually

"The campsite is located in Kent along the south coast. It is possible to cycle along the coast. Places that are worth visiting: i.a. Hythe and Rye. You can visit castles and make a ride with an old steam train in the vicinity."
