Detail information about this campsite
"The campsite is situated within many trees. The vegetation is varied (medium to high). By the multitude of facilities, this campsite is ideal for families, heated swimming pool included in the price. Because the highway is not far away, there are the many local attractions which can be easily visited (Leeds Castle!)."

My partner and I stayed here for one night upon returning from France. We were greeted by a very friendly person in reception. As it was October it was not busy so we were told where the touring section was and could pitch up anywhere no hassle was nice after a long day travelling. The site was clean and tidy and toilet facilities were very good. You need a deposit for a card key for the showers and car barrier bear in mind if returning from Europe with only euros! Other facilities like the bar were closed so cannot comment on those but we enjoyed our nights stay here and would recommend the site.
We had to cut short our European tour due to family illness. After driving 450 miles across France in one day we phoned ahead to book a place. On arrival a man came out of a house and escorted my wife to the reception. Here he ignored her ACSI card. She questioned this but when he saw the motorhome he then said it would be more for a motorhome. When she told me this I became rather irate and challenged the man asking why he was demanding such an amount when they are registered with ACSI. He immediately backed down and said he might be wrong and to check with the girl in the bar. Really annoyed with this approach and have to question why he was in charge of the reception and what he would have done if I or any other visitor had paid \'his\' prices. Apart from that site looked ok.
This evaluation has been obtained by our inspector from a questionnaire at the camp site.
Have just returned from a fab holiday here!!! Woodland was amazing, kids had so much freedom making dens for days!!!! Went in pool loads, which was heated great for an early morning dip. The staff were lovely, took us to pitch near park and let us know that there was entertainment in the bar in the evening most weekends. Toilets and grounds exceptionally clean. Definately returning at end of holidays for another stay, have even convinced my sister to bring her teenage children as there is a small arcade/games room and free wifi in the bar!
Our first trip in our new caravan to Thriftwood, my husband and I are keen walkers and were recommended by friends because of their country walks, we were not disappointed. The camp is set in the beautiful village of Stansted and the office provided us with listed walks. The onsite games room and kids park kept out 2 boys (8-11) off our hands, evenings were just as enjoyable as the club house had entertainment for all the family, staff were more than helpful, and reception staff were so kind and accommodating (even though we arrived 2 hours late). Showering facilities are lovely!! Brand new and beautifully designed. Would recommend to anyone, new campers or pro's ... the perfect short break for all the family, returning as soon as I get time off work (can't wait) 5*
Wonderful, close to London, outdoor pool a big hit with my kids, a brand new shower block. Will be back next year to visit local area and London. Tthank you to al the staff at Thriftwood.
Good site for stopoff to ferries and close to London.
We were placed on hard-standing with our own electric (it read 16amp), water tap and UK satellite connection.
All of the toilets and showers were of good quality and clean.
A pleasant site of which we shall use again
We went as a party of three couples and were placed on three adjacent pitches. The facilities were excellent, new shower blocks up to a very high standard. The staff were so welcoming and as two of the couples were new to caravanning so patient. The pitches were also excellent having recently been converted into hard stansdings with electricity, water and a Sat TV connection on each pitch. I cannot fault this site and would recommend it to anyone
Booked site a week ahead. When arrived no record of booking. Credit card machine not working insisted on cash, go to local cash point if necessary. No receipt given. Apologised that no-one to site us but we could go anywhere. Found ideal loose-stone hard standing pitch that had water and electricity. Set up van, to be told later by neighbour that we were on a car park, and electricity point we were using was metered as we were in area for seasonal pitches. Impolite and arrogant reception staff member said that assistance with pitching had been offered but turned down (not true) and if we didn't like it we could leave. Finally offered a £10 electricity meter card. An attractive rustic site but looks tired. Mostly holiday homes and seasonal pitches with mainly Hobby/Fendt type caravans, in fact our neighbour confirmed that he lives on the site. Only four showers for men and women so probably would struggle in busy period. No shower doors, only curtains
