Located in the 'valley of the falling water', Maltatal campsite enjoys a unique location. The area owes its nickname to the many impressive waterfalls. Surrounded by the beauty of this southern area of Austria, camping here is a breath-taking experience of tranquillity, space, greenery and clean mountain air. And this cosy, atmospheric family campsite has all four in abundance!
The natural environment in which you will be camping is perfect for a relaxed camping holiday with children. The children's farm is a great place for children to play and have fun with the goats and rabbits. The whole family can take a morning ride through the area on a train pulled by a tractor. The campsite is home to a swimming pool, which is encircled by a large sunbathing lawn. The pool belongs to the municipality and you can purchase a one-off ticket or multiple tickets so that you can take a refreshing dip whenever you feel like it.
An unusual acquaintance with Carinthia
The great thing about Maltatal terraced campsite is that there's so much to discover and enjoy, both on the campsite and nearby, that you will only find in this corner of Austria. It's an area largely untouched by mass tourism, and is a great place in which to spend a mountain holiday. The best way to discover everything that the area has to offer without having to spend too much money is to purchase a Carinthia card from the reception. The Carinthia card offers many benefits, including a substantial discount on family boat trips on Lake Millstatt or free entry to Rosegg Zoo.

Excellent site. Second time there. Great location in Austrian valley. Cycle ride along river to local town, Gmund. Excellent staff. Top class toilet and washing facilities. Very good pool on site, small charge. Pitches all grass and most in shade. Local animal and donkey farm well worth a visit with kids. Good shop on site with bigger in town.
We stayed here for two nights on our way to Croatia. Very helpful staff and brill toilets and showers. Weather not good while we were there but swimming pool looked good. Beware of pitches under apples trees in autumn! Lots to do locally. Make sure you go to the Porche Museum in Gmund. It is where Ferdinand Porche start the brand. Gmund smashing make sure to have a meal in the castle restaurant. Also worth spending 18€ to drive the 14 km to the local dam at 1903 mtrs, up the valley from the site. Loads of walks available. Will definitely go back to this site
Good and helpfull staff. Toilet and shower etc facilities are really high if compare Croatian etc **** places. Good place go to cycling by the river side up and down.
Showers are the absolute best design we've ever come across, superb! Restaurant very good on range, quality and price. Shop is basic, pitch spacious but worn with utilities on hand, staff speak English. Petrol station next door, bank 300m further down the road. Not too far from A10 which brings Salzburg and Innsbruck close time wise. Will come again.
