Camping du Vieux Château is situated in the famous Saint-Emilion wine region, located at the foot of the medieval castle of Rauzan. You will find centuries-old trees on the camping grounds. It is very green and tranquil. Rauzan is within walking distance and the cities of Libourne and Bordeaux are not far away.
Camping site with a rich history
Nature on the camping site is rich in history with some trees being older than 100 years. The camping site looks like a park and offers ample shade. You can opt for a sunny pitch or one completely in the shade. The pitches are all spacious (at least 120 m2) and demarcated with shrubs. They have a grass surface. Want to rent something? There are rental mobile homes and bungalows, as well as a converted, old Swiss army truck. Unique!
Elegant swimming pool
The heated swimming pool has an attractive design and ample space and greenery around it. Pot plants, loungers and sun umbrellas create a nice atmosphere. The lovely, circular toddler pool has a water slide. From here you also have a splendid view of the nearby castle.
There is also a playground with a bouncing castle, a spring rider and a double swing. You can also have fun on the multi-sports field. In peak season, owner Tom offers archery lessons and geocaching. Also during peak season, social evenings are held in and around the restaurant on Thursdays.
Restaurant with nice terrace
There is a restaurant with a limited menu and a cosy terrace. The tent cloth covering makes this a nice and shady spot. In the camping shop you can buy some basic foodstuffs and regional products.

Had three nights here on our way down to Spain couldn’t get a better stopover good size pitch great views a really nice site . Jim and Ann
Lovely French owned site on the outskirts of Rauzan. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Decent sized pitches, most with some shade. Nice little bar area. Rauzan has good services, including a lovely Pizza place, and a superb butcher. Just one thing to be aware of - don\'t be put off when on your first night you hear noises like sonar - we thought the electricity was problematic - until the owner explained they were the call of the local toads. once we knew that we were able to sleep peacefully. The first night we were there there was a threesome who were very noisy, and who kept turning their music up until late in the evening. They were asked to leave the next day - so well done to the site owner, Great area for cycling amongst the vineyards.
An absolutely beautiful campsite in a lovely area. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were keen to further improve the site. Our pitch was close to the little stream at the edge which allowed us to watch the wildlife. Numerous birds, butterflies, damsel and dragonflies and even a red squirrel came to visit us. We stayed for 10 nights, I could have stayed for much longer. An easy walk up to the village even for me with a walking stick and ms! I can\'t speak highly enough of this site, a real gem!
For us this could be one of the best campsites we've stayed on in France. The owners are super friendly and obviously take great pride in their site. The location is super peaceful and just a 5 minute walk to the nearest village. We would definitely recommend this site and stay again.
Lovely site and friendly welcome. Bar and restaurant about to close and therefore what seems a very pleasant terrace area and focus for the site was closing down . We enjoyed a round of drinks on the last night at the bar and prices reasonable. . Pretty site complex and enjoyed our short stay, lovely grounds and pool and walking opportunities ample ( we have a dog). Toilets and showers good quality. As Grandparents with 2 year old , we appreciated large play area opposite our pitch and will happily return, earlier in season as clearly a site with a nice ambience.
Friendly owners of a well run campsite.
Nice adjacent village within short walk. Pleasant areas around to visit like Casteon la bataille. Would certainly stay again.
Warm welcome, very good English spoken. A lovely site with updated toilet/shower facilities. Close to a pretty town and good for dog walks. Unfortunately our visit was marred by a weather alert. The owners were very professional and kept everyone well informed of the situation. Would stay here again.
Ideal location for exploring st Emilion and surrounding wine areas. Short walk into town for fresh bread and small but well provisioned market on market day. Fine walks through local vineyards on quiet roads.
Disappointed with only two loos and three showers, unisex, for whole camp-site. Plumbing poor and showers needing to be refurbished - cacked up shower heads, blocked drains. Almost left after first day, but stayed for five days, due to location and other plus points.
Recent change in ownership, refurbishment promised, would return again.
We were attracted to site as 10 amps and free WiFi on 80% of site is shown in ACSI book and internet. On arrival down a long bumpy track we were informed in reception that 6 amps and free Wifi in office area only was available. The ACSI book and internet are not correct on these two items..
Be aware during rains the site ground can become very wet, as the streams running through the camp site become full. Extra washing and toilets facilities are required in the peak periods
