Camping de Châlons-en-Champagne is situated in a green suburb of the town of the same name, approx. 2.5 km from the centre. This campsite is a good base for visiting the town and the Champagne region and is situated next to a fish pond. The grounds are well-tended and offer camping pitches on grass or hardened surfaces with shade trees and occasionally separated by hedges.
On a separate section of the grounds are some 10 static caravans available for rent. There are hardened sites for campers and there is a service station. The facilities are modest and are mainly used by overnight guests.
Centre of champagne
Châlons-en-Champagne is the centre of the champagne production in the vineyards around the town. The campsite is a convenient base for visiting the town and the surrounding vineyards.
Sport and games
The campsite is mainly frequented by people who visit the vineyards and wine cellars of the Champagne. The campsite is also popular with travellers on their way to the south. The facilities are therefore limited; there is no swimming pool or lake to swim in.
However, there is a mini-golf course, tennis court, petanque pitch, children playground, snack bar and convenience store. Fishing in the lake is allowed. The nearest supermarket is 200 m away.

A convenient municipal site, close to shops & bus stops into town. Level pitches are a reasonable size separated by hedges & most seem to have their own water points. But like other reviewers here, we found the san facs to be ell below standard.
Madam in reception is friendly & helpful & speaks good English. Free wi-fi around reception. A good transit stop - we stayed one night & moved on.
Although we were aware there would probably be grape pickers on site, we were discussed with the dirty conditions of the toilet blocks, the misuse of the washing facilities and unnecessary noise very early in the morning. The gates to the camping were left open all night which allowed the pickers use of their vehicles early each morning.
This site is an ideal overnight spot travelling north/south through France. The pitches are all large, no access problems. The reception does shut over lunchtime, but the notice on the door says pick your pitch, then repot to reception when the open
The site fills up by late afternoon, so no shortage of customers, but the toilet, shower and washing up facilities are in desperate need of an update. That said on the up side the showers were hot, The facilities would be the only reason we wouldn\'t want to stay here longer than 2 nights,
The town and surrounding area is lovely, and well worth a look
Excellent site. Individual hedged pitches with EHU and tap and drain. Supermarket within walking distance. Boulangerie and pharmacie outside gates.
Lovely site no direct access to river but only 2-3 minutes walk over the bridge, children swimming in river, we would return.
Used as a night halt. Site was a good standard French municipal type. Would not want to stay for extended period but perfectly acceptable.
Camp site is dated. Relatively easy to get find. You have to drive through town but the approach roads are ok. I pull a tag axle. Well spaced, good sized flat pitches. Many on gravel. Some of the water standpipes are missing. Toilets are old but functional. Large shopping complex within a mile.
We used this site as an overnight halt en route back to Calais. I am glad we did not stay for longer.
There is a choice of grass or hardstanding pitches and all are of a decent size.
There are two toilet blacks but travelling so late in the season the larger one was closed so we used the one in the main building. I first stayed here about 30 years ago and my goodness how things have changed. The site is much larger than I remember but the sanitary facilities have deteriorated. It looked like an attempt had been made to upgrade the shower areas by cladding the walls with laminated board but the old walls could be seen behind. I dread to think how many insects must live there. The floors of the toilet and washing areas were dreadful. They didn’t need a mop they needed a scraper.
The whole site just felt uncared for. Which is a great pity because with some effort and a little bit of money it could be so much better. Also, a number of seasonal workers appeared to be living in the bungalows. They did not disturb us in anyway but it did change the ambience of the site.
We will avoid in the future but if you can’t (as we couldn’t) then be prepared to use your on-board facilities.
This site is good for a night stop only. Pitches are a good size mostly stoned which is good if its wet. The area that lets it down is the toilet blocks. They need a complete refurb.
Good 1 night stopover. Good hard pitches. Toilet/shower facilities need updating.
I feel the site is not keeping up with standards expected. Bins overflowing and toilet/shower facilities were not clean..
