Camping Le Vélodrome

Camping Le Vélodrome lies on the outskirts of Albert, in the north of France in the department Somme. Albert is a town with a turbulent past. During the First World War, it was situated in or near the frontline for a long time. Many military cemeteries and monuments in and around Albert still remind one of that period. Due in part to the major British involvement in the aforementioned war, Albert is still often visited by British tourists and historians. Many of them choose Camping Le Vélodrome as a place to stay, although it is usual for this internationally oriented campsite to be visited by campsite visitors of all nationalities. It is a fairly simple campsite with few amenities.

Nice campsite with marked pitches. Next to the campsite is a lake and a river.

We stayed here following a visit to the Thiepval Memorial and Anglo-French Cemetery. Great location and pitch - good value for money too.

No hot water in the shower block, building work going on, a lot of pitches no electric, they were obviously not ready to open in April, but still took full payment for pitch and facilities.

The campsite was not ready for new season opening, shower block needs upgrading, no hot water in showers block whole time we stayed there, no water at pitches, building work apparently being done, but saw no evidence of this the 8 days we had booked, not told about building work when booked.
