Camping La Croix du Vieux Pont

Two night motorhome stay. We arrived to a busy site, reception polite and helpful. Nowadays there are very few pitches about 22 together in a small area with one or two more scattered around the place.((Actual pitches are very few)) What we were not aware of nor made aware of was the nightmare to follow. Firstly; Bar and Restaurant area were welcoming and appeared clean. The pool appeared clean apart from Green algae staining around the entrance steps and under the waterline. There are ample sun loungers for those actually visiting the pool area, however towels covered the majority of loungers with little activity. The fishing ponds looked excellent and those I spoke with were having a great time fishing. Recycling and rubbish bins were overflowing near to camping area Our pitch was near entrance to the pitches, unfortunately there were several caravans with 'so called Travellers ' multi vehicles and children that l can only politely describe as under NO supervision. They were flying around on electric scooters of which reception later informed me multiple ones had been stolen during the stay. The Police visited on our first morning due to items missing from another van, security were visiting the 'Travellers throughout the day' but obvious through their absence during the late evening and night. Vehicles were forever moving at speed throughout the day and night with multi drivers. At 0030. All hell broke loose outside our van, the 'Travellers' returned in drink and thus engaged in a 3 1/2 hour obscene and abusive rant with each other, threatening violence,screaming at each other and one wielding a knife, it involved several men and women and children could also be heard mouthing their views. My wife was terrified, I chose not to attempt to speak with them because 40+ years in the police taught me to know when to and not to intervene. They were all in a drunken rage. Security was not where to be seen, despite allegedly undertaking routine checks throughout the site. Not what any of the other campers signed up for. The next morning we packed up early and went to reception to complain, I was informed the day before all the "Travellers' were given notice to leave due to multi thefts in the local town. The campsite shop and multiple electric scooters had gone and their general behaviour abhorrent. I asked about the sites duty of care to those staying in vans very close by, and why we were not advised and offered alternative pitches or just somewhere safe, the young lady embarrassingly apologised. I accept no one knows who or what are booking, but they should have more decisive from the initial POLICE involvement and not place others at risk, to allow them another 24hr minium to contine in the same vein was flawed with danger. They certainly didnot more on the 0900 deadline The site could be lovely, welcoming and Safe as it once was. Very sad.

DO NOT VISIT IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN. really not child friendly. Allowed alcohol in play area but not buggies.
