Camping de Courte Vallée

View 5 reviews
The Courte Vallée campsite is a small campsite with British owners on the edge of the medieval Airvault, in the western region of Poitou-Charentes. The campsite, which is extremely clean and friendly, is a great stopover campsite, and a good base to visit the French countryside and the surrounding towns and villages.

Beautiful, very quiet campsite with English atmosphere. Particularly large plots and very well maintained. Possibility to caravan guarded stables at convenient rates. Is close to Airvault.

This is a very English site which offers good facilities which are well looked after. Pitches are generous and mostly level. The restaurant serves a basic British menu and disappointingly there is no bread service despite the town offering little within walking distance and nothing on a Sunday or Monday. The swimming pool is not heated.

The description for this campsite in the ACSI guide needs updating. \'Excellent sanitary facilities\': The modern toilet roll dispensers were all empty even though it is indicated in the guide that toilet paper is included. All soap dispensers were also empty and the hairdryer had a notice stuck to it to say it was out of order. There was no sanitary gel provided anywhere on the site. \'The family is very welcoming\': We didn\'t get any welcome at all. It seems the reception is never open despite one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon indicated on the door. A notice says to go to the bar if the reception is closed. We went six times before finding the elusive owner, purely to pay for our stay. There was no \'Bonjour\' or any enquiry as to whether everything was okay. I can only think the too high price of 20 euros is to cover the losses from the people who leave without paying. We could have paid for just one night as the owner had no idea when we\'d arrived. The good things about the site are the pitches and that Airvault is a nice town to visit. Highly recommended is a visit to the museum in the town which, incredibly, is free of charge. We also recommend the cycle trip to Louin and St.Loup-sur-Thouet.
