Within walking distance of the centre of the historic town of Loches, on the banks of the Indre river, you'll find the charming campsite La Citadelle. This natural campsite is ideal for a relaxed holiday with the entire family. Kids will have plenty of fun at La Citadelle with the lovely playground. Behind the city walls of Loches there are a mishmash of medieval streets. Twice a week there is a market with lovely regional products. Certainly try the special goat's cheese and the tender chicken.

We booked a premium pitch and gave our vehicle details, length etc. when we arrived the receptionist was polite and helpful. We went to the premium pitch. We were shocked to see how small the pitch was. The pitch would only accommodate a small tent or small campervan sub 6 metres. I returned to reception and was offered the choice of pitches nearby to then use the pitches sanitary facilities absolutely ridiculous, why would l book a premium pitch then park my van on another pitch then walk to use my sanitary. The next pitch the family had to buy a gazeboo as their van would not fit. In the end we parked on a standard pitch near a sanitary block. I asked for a refund on the premium pitch but was refused. Beware customers these pitches are far too small.. The general facilities were okay but fairly old. The location is superb for access to the city.. The picture on the website on the website depicts chateau Chenonceauxwhich is not in the city and in my view very misleading and disrespectful to this lovely city

Our pitch is flat, well shaded in this heat. Not noisy but I think down by the pool it prob is more. The site is great for families, two pools, a water slide, a castle playground with bouncy castle and a trampoline. Easy walk along the river to the town centre which is beautiful. The shop and reception has been opened at normal times and stock some nice jams, bread etc. There was a small artisan food market in the bar area today. I’m glad we found this site and we are staying for four nights.

An ideal stopover for a few days on our way south, or to tour the Loire district. This year we were disappointed that the recent ground works installing new chalets had resulted in muddy/dusty areas - we would hope that these will be fully re-instated in due course. Wonderful view of the chateau, easy walk into town, full of history, with restaurants - the food offering on site is only in the high season. We shall be back.

Nor a nice experience booked a privilege pitch with own sanitary facilities the pitch was just mud and uneven as we pulled in to the pitch we were told to avoid a failed drain cover as it was loose, we booked in for a week the second day there were builders right by us working with drills, grinders etc, that was enough we left the second day, they won’t give a refund on your credit card they will only do it through your bank, as yet a month later still no refund. I cannot recommend this site sorry.
