Camping Village Les Rives de Grand Lieu is situated in the small town of Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu, slightly less than 30 km south of Nantes. Feel like experiencing the smell of a fresh sea breeze on the coast? Good idea! It will take you less than an hour to get there. The campsite is ideally located for those wishing to explore the beautiful scenery in the area by car, bicycle or on foot. When you enter the camping grounds, you will immediately see the large number of trees. Just a short walk from the grounds is a small river, which empties into quite a large lake.

There were 3 large parties happening on the night we stayed, with loud music on until late, which we weren’t made aware of prior to stay. Also next to a noisy road, but appreciate that can’t be helped. Washing facilities are good but pitches a bit muddy and rundown by end of season
When we went to check out we couldn’t get out of the barrier as reception was closed and a fellow camper had to let us out.

Situation: across the road from a lovely swimming lake and park; between two rivers with riverside walks. Walking distance to a small town with shops and cafes/bars.
Difficult as it may be with preservation orders etc, if it was possible to remove some of the trees, it would make the site much brighter. We were ‘in the dark’ a lot of the time.

Shaded sight which was welcome in the heat. Very friendly and helpful lady on reception. A big supermarket close by and a good market in town on Sunday.
