In the southernmost province of Italy, Calabria, Mimosa Village Campsite has a great location on the Tyrrhenian Sea. This area is also known as the green coast of Calabria, and it shows in the exceptional landscapes and beautiful beaches. Sicily is easily accessible from the campsite, as is the unique volcanic island of Stromboli. There are several small villages near the campsite, such as Rosarno and Nicotera, and you'll find plenty of supermarkets and lively restaurants here. This charming campsite has been run by a very friendly family for more than 40 years. They've landscaped the grounds beautifully, with many oleanders, eucalyptus trees, olive trees, palm trees, and of course the Mimosa tree.
Camping in an orange orchard
The 50 mostly flat pitches are very spacious by Italian standards. There are pitches under the trees, in a small orchard, or in an open field. In places with less natural shade, canvas has been stretched over them to give shade. There are also various accommodation options to rent. For instance, a fully equipped caravan, where you can enjoy the outdoor life thanks to its outdoor kitchen, and the veranda.
A picture of a sunset
The walk to the sea from the campsite is on a beautiful path, and you'll soon see the blue water sparkling before you. The private beach is a great place to while away the time at dusk, and watch a beautiful sunset. During the day, the sandy beach is a place to enjoy sun, sea and sand on the free sunbeds provided. If you prefer to swim in the beach, this is just a stone's throw from the beach.

A peaceful garden oasis! Like a similar review for us this was the kind of campsite we had been looking for and it did not disappoint! We enjoyed a spacious pitch in lovely surroundings with our own bathroom, perfectly adequate. We were able to take our dogs with us to the restaurant, where we enjoyed a generously portioned excellent meal & service. The bread as mentioned before is delicious & available every day. We purchased fruit & cheese from visiting vendors, all at a reasonable price. A well cared for site, we look forward to returning when the swimming pool will be operational. The immediate beach is well swept with chairs/umbrellas available. Would we recommend? Yes & not just for an overnight stay, in close proximity to the ferry at Villa Sun Giovanni.
Beautiful campsite really well kept with lovely flowers. Don’t be put off by the rubbish on the roads and terrible roads.
Each pitch has its own toilet, shower and wash basin. Clean but desperately needing updated. No hot water to wash dishes only cold. Restaurant was good and the sold 1.5 litre wine which was good. Swimming pool gorgeous. What I liked most was the relaxed atmosphere and no rules written everywhere. The owner Umberto was always around and very helpful.
A really lovely campsite that was dog friendly. The beach allows dogs and is nice but difficult to get in and out of the sea because of shingle. Also gorgeous sunsets over Stromboli
A bit too few publicly available (no extra fees) toilets
Lovely small friendly family run site on a sandy bay. Great restaurant serving simple freshly cooked food, including local fish. Sanitary facilities good. Shower cubicles open to the sky with ample hot water. Toilets and basins indoors. There are parasols and sunbeds for guests to use free of charge on the beautifully clean beach in front of the site, although sadly debris litters the beach further along, which seems the norm in much of Italy where there is no concession. There was another site adjacent but this was closed when we visited in early June. Sunsets are out to sea over Stromboli and fabulous! Free wifi for one device per pitch. Bread can be ordered daily. The nearest town, Rosarno, reminded us of our travels in southern Spain many years ago; scruffy, colourful and full of character! We liked it and would revisit the area and site.
Very good position next to own beach with fantastic sunsets. Local town is a bit of a let down - generally run down with really only one reasonable supermarket. Access to site bit daunting as very narrow and no where to pass other vehicles or units. Very good for stopover to or from Sicily.
A useful stopover on the way to Sicily. Sadly, the campsite was almost deserted, the restaurant closed and the WiFi (near reception only) barely working. Hard to believe the praise in earlier reviews! We were allocated a private WC/shower but the water was lukewarm and a grimy plastic curtain hardly separated shower from toilet bowl. To access the site you now have to drive through busy Rosarno rather than taking the ACSI Card book's route via San Ferdinando Porto, due to road closure because of the collapse of a bridge. We shall not be returning!
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans ce camping, accueil très sympa en français, rien que du bon, piscine, toilettes privées, mer chaude, vue sur le Stromboli et ses éruptions.
Great site to stop at on your way to Sicily or for a quiet break. The beach is right beside the site, the red flag was up a couple of times we were there and it was particularly wild, but nice for a cool dip when calm. Pool is great although the entertainment can be a bit noisy! Owners very helpful and welcoming. Restaurant very good, and they do pizza nights that are worth a visit. Sanitary facilities are limited, you can pay for a private bathroom the alternative is 4 outside showers which is fine when the weather is hot, hot, hot. Site is a little tight for big units you need to watch for low hanging branches.
Situated right next to the beach - unfortunately access was not permitted due to poor weather but it looked nice! Same with the pool. Lovely site with flowers/plants etc but narrow roads around the site for larger vehicles. Motorhome facilities OK but poor drainage and only one hose for fresh water and for clearing the drain area. Own bathroom out of season - I think we were unlucky with ours as the toilet was installed in such a way that the seat wouldn't stay up!!
Stayed 4 nights on my way to Sicily. Family owner was really helpful, pleasant and spoke excellent English. Beautiful site next to beach, own private toilet facility, very peaceful and so good we are staying again on return from Sicily.
