In Opende, the westernmost village of the province of Groningen, you will find camping De Watermolen. At this campsite peace, nature and space are the key words. You camp here on a sheltered and car-free terrain. An area offers many cycling possibilities. Very special rental accommodations on the campsite are the water chalets and the straw hut.

Sheltered touring pitches and special rental accommodations

If you are camping at De Watermolen, you have a terrain of 12.5 hectares at your disposal. A large part of this terrain consists of two lakes. Next to the first lake you'll find various camping fields, where about seventy spacious touring pitches are situated. Each field is ringed by trees and shrubs, so you will always have some shade on your pitch. On the campsite you have a wide choice of special rental accommodations: three water chalets, a water villa, safari tents, a real fire engine and a straw hut.

More than one lake

Especially the two lakes offer a lot of fun. Not only for children, but also for adults. In both lakes you can fish. Part of the smaller lake is set aside for swimmers. This part is also bordered by a beach and a grassy meadow. Around the lake is a forest with hiking trails.

Bistro with pavement cafe

Next to the reception, in the old cowshed, is the bistro. On the attractive pavement cafe you can enjoy a drink or ice cream. During weekends in high season you can also eat there. For fresh bread you don't have to leave the campsite. For your daily shopping you have to be in Opende.

Zeer vriendelijke ontvangst de plekken zijn zeer ruim bemeten kompleet met water en stroom aansluiting zijn hier nu 4 dagen maar hebben gelijk voor de eerste week van juli vast geboekt

Camping was vol, plaatsje achteraf gekregen waar de caravan moeilijk in te parkeren was. Stonden dicht op elkaar. Camping is meer voor jonge gezinnen dan voor senioren.

Heerlijk hadden we het op deze rustige gelegen camping, midden in het groen. Onze hond mocht uitgelaten worden over het terrein (er zijn geen vieze poepveldjes), als je het maar even opruimde. Dat werd door de anderen ook keurig gedaan. Elke dag hebben we een leuke fietstocht gemaakt. Wat was het anders dan het westen. Prachtig onontdekt. Vanaf de camping zit je op een soort van 3 provinciegrens, waardoor we uitstapjes konden maken door het hele noorden. De pizza's die ze op de camping maakten waren de lekkerste die we ooit gegeten hebben. Alleen daarvoor komen we zeker terug!

Heerlijk verblijf gehad, midden in de natuur. Wandelend over de camping kwam ik een paar keer een ree tegen. In de ochtend een frisse duik, maakte ons klaar voor een dag fietsen en wandelen hier in de omgeving, met relatief weinig andere toeristen. Dit gedeelte van Groningen/Friesland mag echt nog ontdekt worden! Aanrader! En, super aardige mensen die er werken!

Geweldige camping voor rust, ruimte en comfort. Mooie veelzijdige omgeving. Camping is prachtig aangelegd en wordt uitstekend onderhouden. Het team is vriendelijk, enthousiast en behulpzaam. Komen zeker terug!
