In the north of Portugal, on the inner edge of National Park Peneda-Gerês, lies Lima Escape Camping & Glamping. Here you stay beneath high fir trees with the Lima river at your feet and magnificent nature surrounding you. Ideal for seekers of peace and for hikers. On the campsite you will mostly find very satisfied campers, irrespective of whether they are staying in a tent, caravan, mobile home or in one of the exciting tree huts or luxury glamping tents.

We only stayed for 1 night, the blond lady at the reception dislikes people ... Not sure it's the correct job for her to be at the reception. She does not respect people - such as I was looking at the map at reception, and she placed herself in between me and the map blocking my view without apologizing or asking for permission, while explaining the surrounding area to another client. She answered the phone in the middle of my check-in, and stayed talking for +5 minutes... Another person at reception then offered to complete my check-in.... The placements are not levelled, terrain is difficult to walk with no pedestrian paths - only vehicle paths have gravel, all pedestrian paths are non existing, slippery and dangerous for children/adults. Night lights are broken at some places throughout the paths, and have not been replaced. Shower: there is no chance of regulating the water temperature, it's either freezing cold (cold showers) or burning hot (hot showers). It was impossible for our small kids to take a shower as it was burning hot. I called reception to tell them this and they said they will check ... If they decide to have no temperature regulation in the shower taps they should monitor the temperature at which the water is coming out to avoid burning people. Bathrooms are dirty but with somehow a 'clean look' - this means that everything seems clean, but once you put anything down on the counter or floor is full of dirt - there is a paper explaining cleaning schedules, but seems that cleaning means to just seem cleaned. Washing machine and dryer are not efficient at all, clothes come out smelling dirty and dryer does not dry clothes fully. Swimming pool is paid... Why? This is the most expensive camping we have been, and swimming pool (which is really small) is paid ... Value for money is very slim. Kudos for having one tap for washing dishes that you can regulate the temperature - in the entire campsite this is the only tap you can regulate the water temperature - and you can only wash dishes with it.

Had a wonderful stay at Lima Escape. Staff very helpful and friendly. We were travelling by motorhome, good choice of pitches, some on the top level had views overlooking the river, most were on a lower level shaded by tall trees. Toilet facilities were excellent, probably the best we had whilst travelling for 7 weeks. Unusually for Portugal there was a good supply of toilet roll and had handwash and electric hand dryers. The site is wonderfully located and you feel very at one with nature. We know that the owners value the importance of its natural environment and it shows. The area is great for sightseeing, we cycled every day encountering beautiful scenery and interesting attactions especially the stone granaries at Lindoso. We were going to stay 2 nights, we ended up staying 5 which says it all really! We would definitely return
