Fantastic location for visiting Alvor and all its attractions, including wonderful beaches, a great boardwalk, a multitude of cafes, restaurants and bars and a couple of supermarkets. There is a Pingo Doce supermarket right next to the sight. We loved watching the fantastic array of birdlife at the mouth of the 4 rivers that run to the sea at Alvor and the dog walking was very good. Rather small reception on site, but well run. Pitches, as usual are very higgledy piggledy with very few clearly marked out and the best ones taken by long term stayers. My wife likes the randomness of the pitches as, if you are luck, you can get a large private space. Sanitary facilities have been improved over the years, the bar/cafe are very useful, but the onsite shop appears to be permanently closed. The only alternative for visiting Alvor is an aire next to the beach with zero facilities.

Arrived intending to stay for 5 nights but struggled to find a pitch that was accessible for a car and caravan. There were few clearly defined pitches and many would have potentially blocked in other campers had we pitched on them. Eventually found a small pitch which had hedges at the front but unfortunately had a pile if someone else's discarded camping stuff at the front. We asked 3 times for this to be removed and each time we were told yes later today or tomorrow! Eventually left after 2 nights when the rubbish was not removed.

pitches are not marked out except for a few as you come on to the site. after that it\'s a free for all. we went out for the evening having put our table and chairs away and when we got back someone was parked so close we no longer had space to sit outside. next day we moved to another pitch. pitches are not level everyone using blocks. showers and toilets were clean but in desperate need of update. sometimes hot sometimes not. site does not take credit cards. on the plus side the pool is lovely there is a supermarket 5 mins walk round the corner and a 7 minutes walk will get you to the harbour front with lots of bars and restaurants.
