This was our first stop after arriving in Spain. We caught the tail end of the season and so it was pretty quiet and due to close the following weekend. This however was great for us. We had a huge choice of pitches, we were close to the sea with plenty of room. The cafe was ok.
I think it would probably be very crowded in the summer which we wouldn\'t have liked. It was a huge site too.
A truly wonderful site with excellent facilities including some of the hottest dishwashing water we’ve experienced over the years camping in Europe.
Extremely helpful and welcoming staff and good sized pitches. We visited out of season and had a reduced price. While there seemed to be a lot of seasonal pitches the campsite was not anywhere near full and we can’t comment on what it would be like in the height of the season.
While wifi was available at an extra cost the signal was very good.
Beautiful beaches at the perimeter of the site. We stayed for three nights as a final stop before catching our ferry from Santander. While there are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance the town is a bit of a trek.
If we’d known about this site we’d have stayed for longer and will definitely use it again.
Stayed here on route to southern Spain. Very friendly staff. Lovely pool which was open in April but a bit chilly for us. Superb tennis court. Very large site but empty at time of our visit. Bar and restaurant open but did not use them but was told very good . Beautiful beach walk along beach to the town.
Stunning location next to beach. Immaculate toilet/shower facilities. Pitches small - only just deep enough for our 7.4m caravan and tight fit for van awning car (parked car on adjoining vacant pitch). Bare earth pitches so groundsheet needed to reduce mess especially after rain. Brush mat and 2m walkway sheet to Tarmac road would have helped. Weekend noisy as local families arrive. 20min walk in to Noja - modern town with good facilities. Beware road humps grounding jockey wheel.
This evaluation has been obtained by our inspector from a questionnaire at the camp site.
Perhaps this is a slightly unfair review as we were at Playa Joyel as part of a Camping Club rally. This site is in a super location with an absolutely stunning beach a few minutes walk from your pitch. We found that our pitch was a bit small for our unit and car, several rally members, including us, were using vacant pitches to park cars as space was very limited if you wanted to use an awning or canopy. The site was never overcrowded or noisy in early June although busier at the weekend when many Spanish campers arrived. A visit to the little animal park is a must when it is open. Other must do's are the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, use the train it is an experience! You will need to drive to a local station. Also of course the Picos de Europa, it is a long drive to Fuente De but worth it. Noja is a modern resort town and that is about it.
Great beach close by. Lively at weekends until midnight. Good range in the camp shops. Friendly and helpful staff. Small wildlife park close by. Surrounding scenery and countryside breathtaking in places. El Soplao cave worth a visit, commentary only in Spanish.
