Hoddom Castle Caravan Park is in the Scottish Dumfries and Galloway. Here, you camp in a unique way. This park-like campsite is on the estate of a 16th century castle. It's ideal as a stop-over campsite when travelling from England to Scotland (or vice versa), but certainly also great for a longer stay.

Park-like landscaped campsite on the estate of an old castle. Many facilities are located in the annexed buildings. The campsite offers spacious pitches and good, clean toilet facilities. There is a separate tent field. There are plenty of sports and games for young and old, but peace-seekers also feel comfortable here.

Just 4 miles from the motorway (Ecclefechan exit off A74M), it's the perfect place to stay in the grounds of an old castle, or to break the journey to/from Scotland. We called in for one night, stayed for two and wished we had longer. There are various walks around the wooded estate or along the River Annan, cycling on quiet lanes, golf on the adjacent course, salmon fishing, children's play park and crazy golf. The Coach House Bar/Restaurant (open Thurs-Sundays) in the Castle outbuildings was excellent, with tasty pub favourites as well as wood-fired pizzas and burgers. Above all, the staff in the Reception/shop were so welcoming and friendly, taking their time to explain the electricity system (metered above 4 kWh for ACSI members). It's the only ACSI low-season discount site in Scotland, and a real bargain! The one negative is the long walk from most pitches to the only showers, laundry room and chemical disposal point, though there are two toilet/washing up blocks around the site and several water taps.

We have been on a subsidiary to Hoddom Castle caravan site for 10 years but have just been told to leave the site because our caravan exceeded the 25 year age limit, however, this was unproven and 3 other caravans older than ours were allowed to stay for another year, discrimination and personal injustice has occurred against a couple in their mid 70s. The management are impossible to deal with and will not reply to any emails regarding the aforementioned.
