Set in the Southern Alps, the surrounding area offers plenty to do. The Grossglockner road, the Malta Dam, plenty of lakes with delightful towns scattered around them and the lovley city of Villach nearby. Some of the prettiest scenery we've experienced.

Camp sites in Kärnten, the Austrian name for Carinthia

Camp sites in Kärnten are located in the south of Austria in the green, rural area that borders Italy and Slovenia. A region with snow-capped mountain peaks in the hard winters, but also with hot summers.

Camping in Kärnten is ideal for those seeking relaxation who want to appreciate the countryside, because even in the middle of summer it is never overly busy. Especially if you go to the trouble while walking from your camp site in Kärnten to stray away from the beaten track to enjoy the silence and the breathtaking views. The enormous protected area of Hohe Tauern is located in the west of Kärnten.

Due to the mild summer climate in Carinthia, the water temperature in the countless lakes and reservoirs, including the Weissensee, Wörther See and Millstätter See can rise significantly. This makes camping in Kärnten perfect for watersports enthusiasts as the area is renowned for its watersports facilities!

A touch of romance is not missing from your camp site in Kärnten because the Hochosterwitz castle was the inspiration for Snow White and the Seven Dwarves!  Klagenfurt and Villach are the largest towns in Kärnten. This is also a pleasant stopover en route to the south (Italy, Croatia, Hungary).
