Campsite l'Eau Rouge **

General information

Close to the world-famous racing circuit at Spa-Francorchamps, in the north of the Belgian Ardennes, you'll find the environmentally-friendly l'Eau Rouge campsite. You can camp here on a camping pitch, or in rental accommodation. The campsite is an excellent starting point for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling. Jump into the saddle and take a trip to the nearby town of Spa, where the historical grandeur is still there to be admired. L'Eau Rouge campsite is just outside the town of Stavelot. The campsite is in a green, forested area, and on the banks of the river Eau Rouge. Good to know: at the nearby racing circuit, there's a challenging curvy part of the track which is named after the river, and so the Eau Rouge is world famous in racing circles.

More transit pitches

Franka and Frank have been the owners since 1998. As soon as they took over, they placed the emphasis on camping pitches over fixed (annual) pitches. You can also rent a luxurious mobile home, which offers you every possible creature comfort.

There is a new, heated, but energy-efficient swimming pool. The pool is sixteen metres long, six metres wide, 1.45 metres deep and the water doesn't contain chlorine. On the water, there's a solar cover that absorbs heat from the sun and transmits it to the water. As well as the panel, they use a heat pump. This pump gets warmth from the air, and transmits it, five times as strong into the water. If you want to go swimming and the solar cover is still closed, you can open it easily at the push of a button.

The new William Tell

The campsite is known for its facilities and activities for skilled and beginner archers. Use your stay at the campsite to discover if you have a talent for this sport. In the peak season, there are lessons for children and adults twice a day. Who will be the new William Tell?

Don't miss

Spa is a historic wellness retreat, and one of the oldest tourist destinations in Belgium. Wealthy people have visited Spa since the 18th century for its wellness retreats and casinos. Everything in the town exudes grandeur from the noble elite who used to visit the spas here. The stately homes, the ancient baths, and the casino give the town a unique atmosphere.

Travelling party: Couple

Fabulous campsite with lasagne to die for. We picked this site because of its proximity to the Spa Francorchamp circuit,2 miles down the road from the circuit. Friendly staff made it all the more enjoyable. Good clean toilets and facilities will certainly go back.

Travelling party: Single

Stopped here for 3 nights and visited Stavelot Motor Museum, Archeological Museum and explanaition of local history all in one place at the Stavelot Monastery.
The site was quiet but as it was a couple of weekends after the F1 at Spa the field overflow was in poor condition but the main site was remarkably good considering the use it must have had. We were asked to park with 2 wheels on the road due to recent heavy rain. The restaurant and pool were closed at the time but they looked ok and the bar was good.

Travelling party: Couple

This was our third visit. You are always made to feel welcome. The site improves every time we return. This time there are new showers and hand wash laundry, facilities. The area is ideal for walking and cycling with some stunning views.

Travelling party: Couple

Ideal site for visiting the race circuit and surrounding area is beautiful. The electrical points are the old two pin type and would apear to have seen a lot of service.

Travelling party: Couple

Stunning scenery surrounding the campsite in the mountains.
The staff are very friendly and efficient. We were at campsite for the F1 race this year and many other campers had been to this campsite before.
We, like they, would continue to visit this campsite year after year for the race.
Good job to owners/managers and staff - well done on doing a good job on a very busy weekend.
We will be back for sure.

Travelling party: Seniors

Went for Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, Formula 1 Grand Prix. Thousands (literally) packed into very small spaces, loud music most of day & night. Atmosphere was brilliant. Never felt intimidated despite age gap with majority of campers/caravanners. Showers and toilets very clean & tidy but always occupied because of numbers. 2k to track (Blanchemont) so very handy. Would go again for another GP but also area was very picturesque and could see that going at another time of the year would be lovely, and the facilities would not be quite so stretched.

Travelling party: Couple

This is a lovely site in a lovely location. Toilets are clean and well maintained. Pitches are grass with reasonable areas of shade. Nearby stream. Food on site is basic but plenty of options in the nearby town of Stavelot. Good walking routes nearby and from the site itself. Staff are helpful. Recommended.

Travelling party: Couple

A quiet site set in beautiful surroundings Woods and trees with a stream. With the back drop of hills and cattle. The staff on our visit, where very helpful and friendly. They spoke excellent English. The site is close to the Belgium, Motor Racing Circuit. Also close too, Coo and scenic waterfalls and walks. There are several supermarkets nearby. We had no problem purchasing supplies. A site we will be visiting again, as the area has so much to see.

Travelling party: Family with children, 12 - 18 years

Stayed at this site for 5 days and adored it. The hosts are friendly and very helpful. Close to Spa grand prix circuit but not that you would notice it. Stavelot is well worth a visit especially the abbey. Overall this site is ideal for families but is well used by both dutch and belgian campers but this is a positive.
