we arrived at the evening the lady at the entrance demanded that we will leave overnight all passport. As we explained this is a problem for us and offered to leave a deposit instead, she just was rude and said you can\'t stay here.
We felt insulted and left to borje camping instead.
For motor-homers this site is more akin to a very large aire or camper-stop. It is set in parkland that can only be considered as wonderful. There are no clearly identifiable pitches although for motor-homes there are communal hard-standing areas with easy access to electricity. Grey water, chem toilet disposal and a supply of fresh water is not so convenient and in fact, I wouldn\'t touch the fresh water supply as it was just too close to the chem toilet disposal for my liking. There may have been other sources of fresh water that I didn\'t find but I didn\'t look too hard as it wasn\'t a real necessity for us.
There is a nice looking restaurant within the park with what appeared to be a comprehensive menu but we didn\'t sample.
really large campsite near Plitvice National Park. There is a free shuttle bus to the park each day. There are marked pitches and unmarked areas. It is so big you can be all by yourself it you like! The toilet/shower facilities were good and clean. There was a restaurant but we found this disappointing. The food was average and overpriced. We didn't use the bar. It is a 20 minute walk into the nearest village that has some other restaurants and a small supermarket. IF you want to camp near Plitvice I would recommend this site.
This is a large state run campsite in the woods, just 8Km from the Plitvice National Park. Arrival is through an entrance where you drive up to a window to check in (they hold your passports but it is a secure building). Pitches are very fluid and it tends to be a case of finding a piece of reasonably level ground close enough to an electric point. There was lots of space when we were there (in May). There is also a large “car park” hardstanding area where quite a few units were parked.
Free WiFi but the signal doesn’t get to all parts of the site. Large central washrooms which are modern and regularly cleaned.
The big attraction of this site is that it is close to Plitvice National Park, and they run a daily courtesy shuttle bus from the site (09:00) to the Park with a return at 17:00. This takes less than 10 minutes. The park is absolutely stunning and well worth the drive there.
Perfecte plek vlakbij het park. Er gaat een gratis pendelbus vanaf de receptie naar het park. Camping is groot, maar doordat de plekken ruim zijn en bosrijk merk je daar niet veel van.
Lovely camp site close to Plitvička lakes. A free bus from the camp takes you to the park at 9am and returns at 5pm. The park is stunning.
A river below the camp is amazing for a swim on a hot day. Very large camp with hundreds of camping spots.
Location: Site well signposted from the D1.
We had originally decided to stay at Camping Borje which is at the other side of the National Park but changed our minds after seeing both locations and deciding that the area around Camping Korana was much prettier in Spring, plus there are 2 or 3 restaurants and a small supermarket nearby.
The site is very large and very hilly. Whilst we were there every campervan and caravan was parked on the concrete areas of which there were several. I would have found it difficult if not impossible to find a grass pitch on to which I could manoeuvre and level the caravan. There are plenty of electrical supply bollards supplying 16 amps but fresh water taps are few and far between. On the whole the site staff were friendly and spoke good English. There are 3 toilet blocks but only one was open in early April and you could have a long walk to any of them from some pitches. We found the toilet block to be modern, well fitted out and clean with plenty of hot water. Washing machines were available. There is a restaurant, café, bar and shop on site, although only the shop and restaurant were open when we visited. There is a bus that leaves at 9.00am each day for the Plitvice Lakes National Park or you can make the 10 min drive yourself. Parking costs 7Kn an hour. Park admission is 110 Kn each (£11.00) which includes all bus and boat transport within the park.
Given the number of tables and chairs around the bar and restaurant we got the impression that this site could be extremely busy during the high season. We found the site to be well managed, well maintained and very clean and peaceful. Happy to recommend.
The campsite is about 6km from the gate of the Plitvice Lakes National Park, which was my reason for selecting the site (I thoroughly enjoyed my day-trip to the lakes).
Korana is a large campsite and visitors get to drive around and select whichever location they wish to camp. For me, it was a toss up between selecting a pitch with a view or one with shade. As the Land Rover's solar panel needed the sun to keep the fridge battery charged, I opted for the view. This placed me near to the building that houses the reception, the shop and the cafe (something I would regret later).
There is a 'swimming hole' in the valley below the campsite. The river has been dammed at one end, creating a shallow lake. The grassy bank is used for sunbathing and the lake for swimming (and the kids jump off the bridge).
There is live entertainment (a duo) at the camp restaurant each evening.
On my first night, I was woken by someone riding a high-pitched motorcycle around the camp about 3.00am.
My second and last night at Camping Korana was interrupted by loud music, singing and shooting from the cafe that went on from about midnight to 2.00am (despite there being a camp rule about no noise after 10.00pm). When I mentioned this on check-out, I only got a shrug from the staff member.
