In the heart of the French Dordogne, Camping La Chatonnière is set in a beautiful location right by the water. There is a private sandy beach and you can swim in the river. The medieval village of Jumilhac-le-Grand is just 500 metres from the campsite.

Spacious, quiet pitches

You can feel the space as soon as you drive up to your pitch. Because of the difference in height, the site consists of several parts. Here you will find beautiful spots for your tent, caravan or motor home. On the lower part, the pitches are close to the river. All the pitches offer privacy and are landscaped with bushes and trees. You can also spend the night in a robust safari tent or a nicely furbished mobile home among the greenery.

Swimming and playing in the river

Looking for some refreshment on hot days? Go paddle in the river, which is near the campsite. The water is fairly shallow and both the water and the beach on the bank are great places for children to splash around and play. The sunbathing area has shade.

Walking and cycling

There is plenty to do in the area surrounding Camping La Chatonnière. Want to go hiking? Various trails leave from the site. Prefer to go cycling? Then hire a bicycle on the campsite, but bear in mind that the surroundings are hilly.

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - Immaculate site with large well tended pitches. Pitches all have some shade and many have a view of the river. We stayed 4 nights with our acsi card it was 15euros a night, amazing value for such a special place. Easy walk to the village which had a couple of bar/restaurants with a great view of the fairytale castle. Also several well marked out walks from the site which our Labrador loved. Definitely on our list to return.
Disliked - We do prefer a gravel pitch, we were lucky we got the only one so a few more would be great although it wouldn’t put us off returning.

Liked - Friendly welcome, lovely pitches in a terraced campsite. We chose one with view of the river.
The facilities were clean and modern.
We really enjoyed our stay...thank you.

Liked - This is the best site I have stayed at. The facilities are so good and very clean. The pitches are large and well looked after. The children’s playground is like no other I’ve seen - just wonderful! Huge chess game for outside, trampoline, outdoor gym equipment and more boxed games than I’ve seen in a shop for rainy days. Located within walking distance to a small but lovely village with a bakery, butchers, restaurants and a chateau that is open to the public.
Disliked - It is impossible to improve this site - it is absolutely excellent!

PRE ARRIVAL REVIEW. They have been so helpful when making a reservation at this campsite. Explaining the layout of the pitches and even sending a photo of the pitch we have reserved. Some sites did not even bother to reply.

Liked - This is a lovely ,lovely campsite, we were on a terrace above the river, the reception is great as are the owners. Bread and croissants available every day. The toilets and showers were really, really good and everything wes so clean. Clearly the campsite owners want to offer the best possible experience for their guests and they most definitely achieved this aim. I cannot speak too highly of this campsite the best one of our 6 week trip. We would definitely return to this camp site. Unfortunately the weather was atrocious and the river burst it's banks quite spectacularly.
Disliked - None possible ( apart from the weather) everything was perfect

Liked - Everything about this campsite is wonderful Lydie and Bruno the owners, go out of their way to ensure that your stay is fantastic. Everything is so clean and so well organised. The heated shower block is great and all facilities are to hand. Reception is great too and provides everything you might need. Attractive campsite with walks along the river.Many thanks to Bruno for helping us get off the pitch after the torrential rain that we had for 2.5 days!
Disliked - Maybe water at the pitch side for a motorhome, but it wasn't really a problem

Liked - Stayed because of a wedding nearby at the Chateau d'Oche. They were very accommodating to a big group of excited British people! Daily baguette order was great and staff very kind.
