I think this site has been a bit over rated, it is easy to find and near a large simply store with good access for fuel. Pitches are grass and slightly sloping in a lot of cases, the is also a large kerb to get up which could damage a motor over and trees in the immediate vicinity of most pitches. The ablutions are not in a building and open to the wind at least. The showers need a bit of work, new shower heads that produce a shower and not a mist would not go amiss, and maybe proper controls and not push buttons. The site is very clean and well looked after. Town is a short walk but there\'s not much to see. Dog walk is on the footpath. Good for a stopover
Spent two and a half weeks here in August. great site and facilities. spotlessly clean and we\'ll maintained. great site for exploring the region.
Can\'t thank Peter and Kay enough for their hospitality and help during our stay
Camping de la Bastide is by far the best site my wife and I have stayed at in all our travels: we had intended staying for just a few nights but this extended into almost two weeks. The owners are friendly, considerate and discrete and the entire site is kept immaculately neat and tidy. It enjoys a lovely location on the banks of La Dordogne and yet the town of Ste-Foy is just a short walk away. The town has a choice of shops as well as a large bustling market on a Saturday morning. Additionally, there is a handy train station which is on the line serving Bordeaux to Sarlat. We used the train several times to visit some of the wealth of beautiful towns in the area and never felt the need to drive/cycle anywhere. It is fair to say Camping de la Bastide has everything we (and possibly you!) could want!
An excellent site run by a British couple used in the main my fellow Brits. Nice pitches kept clean and tidy. Toilets very clean with good hot showers. Swimming pool not used as we visited in late October but although not large would cater for those at the site. The only downside is the size of the site which is relatively small. I only say this as one will normally have to book ahead and due to its popularity many will be disappointed in not being able to get in which is a great pity. Wifi worked well. Owners provide good information on places to visit in the area. Town a short walk away as is a Supermarket of good size. If in the area again we will definitely try to get into this site again. The owners are to be congratulated.
Absolutely first class site so no wonder it was busy. Cannot fault anything. Owner even booked and recommended a restaurant. Easy walk into town which is well worth a visit. Pool looked fine, but did not use as too cold for us.
Lovely quiet site on the banks of the Dordogne. Only a 5 minute walk into the town of St Foy la Grande. Staff very helpful, with recommendations of local places of interest. Good size pitches, most with shade.
We popped into this campsite as a stopover to see our friends in the Dordogne . A first class site , the showers and toilet block were spotless and the best washing up sinks of our 8 week trip. The pitches were of a decent size and nicely marked with low laurel hedges.
The owner was very helpful and seemed to be about if you needed info.
As others have said probably the cleanest and well kept site you will come across
Very friendly owners, who bend over backwards to ensure your stay is pleasurable. The site and facilities are very clean. 5 min walk from a supermarket and a small town makes this site perfect for those travelling without another form of transport..situated on the Dordogne river, what more can ask for. Perfect!
Very compact, tidy site, kept immaculately clean by the English family who run it. They are particularly friendly and helpful.
The clientele are also mainly English and many seem to be there for a prolonged visit, hence all the best pitches are already taken. The site is next to the Dordogne but there is no direct access to it.
The pitches are adequate size and well kept. The toilets etc are always very clean.
Nice swimming pool. WiFi is a rather hit and miss affair but it is free.
We felt rather crowded in with very little privacy.
Bread can be bought from a shop in the town about 400 metres away. The town has an interesting history and some notable buildings. Boat trips along the river are available in summer.
Very friendly and helpful site British owners always willing to give advice on the area Lovely position right by the river and close to town and shops
