CosyCamp is an environmentally-friendly campsite, located near the village of Chamalières-sur-Loire in Haute-Loire on the banks of the Loire Sauvage. Come and live a glamping experience in a 4.5 hectare botanical garden where cars are not allowed. Large pitches, upscale atypical accommodation, a wellness area, outdoor swimming pools, swimming in the Loire, canoeing, games and bicycles available, and campfires. In short: everything you need for an exquisite holiday.
Forested area on the Loire
CosyCamp is in a stunning forested area, right on the Loire. You'll find one nature reserve after the other in the area. The campsite is in between three French pearls: the regional nature reserve Livradois-Forez, regional nature reserve of Pilat, and the Monts d'Ardèche nature reserve. The campsite grounds are all about nature too. They have been designed with an emphasis on the relationship between people and nature. Totally environmentally-friendly. You'll find botanical gardens here, with the most extensive flora, and all the buildings are made from untreated wood.
All of the rentals are also designed with conservation in mind. Don't be afraid that you'll have to spend the night in a small wooden hut, though. CosyCamp has the look of a luxury campsite. With very special rentals, including treehouses, lodges and gypsy wagons, you can definitely consider this 'glamping'. The pitches are spacious: the smallest is no less than 100 m².
Fresh, local food
At CosyCamp, simple, local and environmentally-friendly food is served. In the organic kitchen, they make their hamburgers from cows from the Haute-Loire, and every day, there's a special on the menu from the region. You can also have breakfast in the communal dining room, and order picnic baskets with fresh local produce.

Disliked - Cold weather at night, food for dinner was mediocre
Liked - Loved the position next to the river. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly hosts.
Disliked - Flies - but what can you do?
Liked - Great pool
Disliked - The flies!
And no toilet seats!
Liked - From the beginning our experience at Cosy Camp was excellent, the whole ambiance of the region and the camp itself was beautiful, nestled in a valley right on the river bank.
Everything about the camp and location is extremely kid friendly and we did not want for anything more. The food provided by the kitchens was of high quality and freshly cooked or prepared.
If you are looking for a back to nature experience in a relaxed yet stunning environment then this is for you.

Liked - Relaxed and friendly
Liked - This is our 6th year at Cosy Camp and we especially like the pool, the location right on the Loire, the bar and restaurant with its family friendly menu, the clean toilets and showers and of course the friendly English speaking hosts and staff. The site is also car free which is great.
Disliked - It can get cold at night even in August so come prepared!
Liked - The ambiance, the wonderful staff (Richard et Sophie especially), the eco elements and little creative touches everywhere, insects, plants wildlife, fire, cafe, bar, pool, river, views, freedom and safety for the children, friendly people, great facilities.... people come again and again and for good reason. Merci.
Disliked - nothing at all.
Liked - Beautiful location. Loved the river! Good sized pitches. Nice ambiance and all the extra touches on site, including the kids bikes. Enjoyed eating in the restaurant and the plat du jour.
Disliked - Noise in the evenings - this is not a quiet site. Little respect from groups of families to other campers. On one particular night we were still being disturbed at 01:30 in the morning despite politely asking them to be quiet at 23:30. Perhaps a noise curfew would help and to include no amplified music? Guests appeared to bringing powerful speakers.
The flies in the restaurant/reception were a nuisance and put us off eating inside.
Liked - Great site in a great area. Would justify multiple repeat visits to take it all in. We barely left the site, walked or kayaked to wherever we fancied going. Plenty to do and good attitide of staff. You're trusted with equipment and facilities and everyone we met repaid that trust by respecting and looking after them. Great for kids 5-15. Younger and they may not fully benefit from what's on offer; older they could get bored. So much to see and do in the surrounds and not too busy. Beautiful landscape though at altitude so can be a little chilly at night, however unseasonably so when visited.
Disliked - No convenience stores in walking distance and nothing provided on site. If you have a car or rent a bike not necessairly any issue. A pain if you have a camper like ours. Would benefit from a small shop selling essentials. The campervan pitches are near the carpark and while surrounded by medium height beech trees, not the prettiest part of the site. Also near cars and zip lines so though in a separate spot and no immediate passing traffic, not the most attractive or private. Good value though, considering what it grants you access to.
Liked - The freedom the layout of the site gave the children. They were able to explore and seek adventure. The cottage had everything we needed. The site was the perfect size and really quiet in the evening.
Disliked - Being told off for having the bikes on the deck when the kids were just inside using the toilet.
