Along the banks of the Saône, next to a recreational lake, is camping La Clé de Saône. This simple 3-star campsite has very spacious pitches on the grass, under the trees. The most beautiful pitches are located directly on the river and offer a beautiful view over the water. Because of its location along the Route du Soleil, between Dijon and Lyon, this is an ideal transit campsite.

On the banks of the Saône

Camping La Clé de Saône is beautifully situated on the banks of the river. The campsite is beautifully green and consists of several camping fields. There are 160 spacious touring pitches available. The many trees provide shade, but you can also choose a pitch in the full sun. On some fields the pitches are separated by hedges, others are more open. The most beautiful spots are right next to the river.

Refuel for a while

Next to the campsite, directly on the river, is a restaurant. The dishes are simple and the choice is limited, but on the terrace you can sit at the water's edge. You can also go there for a drink or an ice cream. In the morning you can get fresh bread, but you have to order it the day before. If you want to eat out a bit more extensively, you'll find all kinds of restaurants in Crêches-sur-Saône.

Liked - Location
Disliked - The bar music was loud until 1am so we got little sleep really put us off we would have probably used again but not with that. There were only 6 people there and the speaker was really loud facing into the campsite which kept the whole family awake.

Liked - Nice situation by the river. Friendly staff.
Disliked - Poor maintenance - untidy. Grass needs cutting. No motorhome service point. No chemical toilet emptying point (closed), no grey water emptying point.

Liked - We had a lovely large right on the river bank. Bit shady as so many trees, but would be good in the height of summer
Disliked - Very little hot water in basins, difficult to have a shave. In the washing up area, hot and cold taps round the wrong way, and leaks from waste pipe and control taps. Made floor slippery.

Liked - As it was end of season the site was quiet. We chose a pitch on by the river. Toilets and showers were clean and plenty for those on site. Bike track on the river bank that went all the way to Macon and beyond!
Disliked - No sure if there are enough toilets etc for the busy season

Liked - Old toilet facilities. Unclean. Even older restaurant. Bread after 9:00. Simpel stay-sleep-and go.
Disliked - Invest in new facilities. The only positive thing is that the pitches were very spacey.
