Camping Les Bruyères is situated on the outskirts of the small town of La Clayette, in the southern part of the Bourgogne. You reach the camping site via provincial roads through a hilly area. Les Bruyères is a neat, quiet camping site on gently sloping grounds with some tall trees. Because the camping site is slightly elevated, you have a view of the large lake and the castle of La Clayette.
Camping with a view of the lake
There are camping pitches with a grassy surface and hardened pitches. These all vary in size and degree of shade. The sanitary facilities are basic, but neat and heated in low season. You can also rent chalets and bungalow tents. The chalets have a well-equipped kitchen, bathroom and terrace with view of the lake. The bungalow tents have a kitchenette and terrace with barbecue.
Free use of the municipal swimming pool
The municipal swimming pool with slide is adjacent to the entrance of the camping site. As a camping guest you have free access to the pool. To get to the lake, you go from the camping site down a flight of stairs to the road which runs along the lake. Please note: swimming in the lake is not allowed.
You can play mini-golf or a game of tennis on the camping site. There is also a multi sports field for basketball and more. They also have fitness walking equipment. Want to explore the area by bicycle? You can rent (electric) bicycles or mountain bikes from the camping site. Close to the camping site there are ample opportunities for walking, quad-biking, canoeing or fishing.

We did a review on this site last year and are pleased to say that the hug standard we experienced last year still exists - prices remain reasonable, the toilets and showers are clean and well maintained and there is plenty of hot water. A lovely lakeside walk into the village and a good choice of shoos and cafés. We will be back!
Delightful site, perfectly mown and trimmed large pitches overlooking the lake and chateau. Lovely walks, facilities excellent and owners very friendly. The lady speaks English.
A very well run site. The French couple who run it are very friendly and speak English. Sanitation block is very clean, heated, and has lots of hot water. The toilets have seats and toilet paper is provided. A sports complex with a swimming pool surrounds the site which also has a child play area. The bread man calls every morning and offers a selection of baguettes and croissants. This site is a 15 minute lakeside walk to the village which offers a wide variety of cafes, restaurants, a bank and shops. There is a world famous chocolatier on the high street who won best chocolate maker in 1998. The local super marche is a 10 minute walk from the site which also has a 24/7 garage.
The pitches on the site are within easy reach of water and electricity although our particular one showed reverse polarity.
Laundry facilities including an ironing board and iron are available along with communal washing lines. Free wifi, a bar and restaurant with a piano! We highly recommend this site.
