Great site with a lake ...and now a nice swimming pool
What a fabulous small site. The Receptionist was excellent, really friendly and helpful and Spoke really good English. Toilets and showers are spotless clean. Good size pitches, some overlooking the small lake. Some football and rugby fields close by to exercise the dog. In fact everything you could want is close by, even providing clothes lines for hanging your washing out. The site is close to an indoor swimming pool, although there is a small outdoor pool on site but it wasn’t open when we were there. There is a supermarket across the bridge and a Vets within easy walking distance and its all flat. The bit of town I saw when I took the dog to the very helpful vet, looked lovely and I spotted a cafe we can try on our next visit. The site has a restaurant that serves basic but tasty meals, steaks, chicken or pork, with plenty of fries. You can choose a two or three set course meal. Steak was delicious. All in all, a cracking little site if you want some peace and quiet and access to a vet who speaks good English to get your Pet Passport sorted. This is definitely on my repeat list. A little gem for travelling north/south, or for relaxing for a few days and touring if you are into that. Just beware that one route in has a low bridge (3.1m), so beware if you are guid d by a Satnav. There are directions for o get around it on their website though.
A beautiful site, immaculately kept with good size pitches. Staff are extremely helpful. Will visit again.
Easy to find. Pleasant welcome and nice pitch by the small lake. Super U and petrol close by. Did not visit town as in transist but accessible. Good stopover and also to visit the area. Facilities clean and in good condition. Recommended.
perfect for an over night stop, ticked all boxes. Plenty of restaurants in the town which was a very short walk. We ate at the pizzeria which was good. Definitely a site to use again.
Christina, the person we dealt with at the site was fantastic with a good sence of humour. The site is great, just by a big lake and within easy walking distance to the town and a supermarket. The toilet/ shower facilities are very clean and well maintained. This one is a real transit site and seemed to almost empty and fill up every day as peopke used it travelling on the nearby motorways as a stop over. Everyone we spoke to had used the site numerous times before. Bizarrely the only negative we have is the lady in the towns Tourist Information Office who seemed very hostile, seemed crazy, just an off day I guess?
stopped for one night on the way down to Spain this June. lovely site friendly staff, very clean and tidy. nice little swimming pool and even nicer cold beer. supermarket round the conor with cheap fuel. will be stopping again next year.
Scores are filled in as mandatory on reviews although we can only really comment on the staff.
Arrived at reception and asked if we could drive on to look at the available pitches as I am disabled (with blue badge). This has not been an issue on any other site as I am unable to walk around the sites. We were told that this would not be possible and that we must pay before we were allowed through the barrier. We agreed in good faith that this would not be a problem and handed over our payment for a one night stay whilst we had a look around. Having looked at the available pitches we failed to find one suitable for my needs, we therefore returned to reception approx 5 minutes later to say that unfortunately we would be unable to stay only to be told that they do not give refunds and that we should have seen the sign on the office wall stating this. When we pushed for the return of our money (they knew we hadn't even got out of our Motorhome) we were shouted at and ordered off the site. The aggression that was displayed came as a total shock and completely out of all proportion. Having just left our last site after 23 nights (only going to be one) and having visited hundreds of sites we can safely say that the staff who 'handled' our visit were by far the worst example of customer service we have ever encountered. Having said that, they made it quite clear that they were indifferent to this as they shouted "this is my camping". Well good luck for the future. You have far too much excellent competition throughout France so you may ultimately get what you wish for and have 'your camping' to yourself.
The site was quiet when we visited after the main season. The lady in reception was very friendly and helpful. The site is well laid out around a lake providing large grass pitches under mature trees. The toilet and other facilities were clean with plenty of hot water.
The restaurant was closed at the time we visited and the one in the town was expensive.
Stayed for one night en route to the Dordogne. We didn’t book but as it was May and the weather had been poor there were a lot of empty pitches. The lady in reception was delightful. We had a pitch next to the lake, so we had a lovely view when sitting in the caravan. The site is well situated near to the village which can be reached either by road or by walking round the lake first – either way it’s nice to have somewhere to walk to and stretch your legs. Super U not far from the site complete with fuel station.
The toilet/shower block was old but clean and the showers were roomy with hot water. No toilet seats, but there was toilet paper.
The only disappointment was the onsite restaurant – the “serve yourself” hors d’oeuvre was fine but the main course was overcooked and not particularly good. The worst meal we encountered in France – maybe we were unlucky. Overall though, a very pleasant site and we would return again.
