We were very disappointed with this site. Some pitches are quite spacious others are close together. The swimming pool is just a big paddling pool. Went to the restaurant and despite a good menu there were only 2 options available.
We were very fortunate to have a riverside pitch. Very pretty area and facilities very clean and adequate .
Absolute fantastic location if you can get a riverside pitch. Sat outside the motorhome on a late September evening, eating and taking a little of the local Sauvignon whilst watching the sun set along the banks of the Loire. Life doesn’t get much better! The actual town of Gien was badly affected by the German bombings in the 2WW and as such is not as pretty as some of it’s close neighbours. The market (Saturday) is a strange experience. Pleasant enough (in terms of content) but not what we generally come to experience in most French towns. Excellent cycling and the journey out to Briare is a must to do. Wifi wasn't free, but pretty good. Sanitaires were clean and functional with plenty of hot water. Reception was good with the exception of the young lady who booked us in who seemed restricted to monosyllabic responses to all enquiries. Perhaps it had been a long season for her! Bless. Excellent local artisan fruit & veg shop 20 yards from entrance.
Visited site end of September, staff friendly and helpful, toilets and showers cleaned every day. Would return
Only 2 unisex toilets +1disabled toilet open for the whole of the site. The urinals were broken, and the facilities smelled badly.Grass on pitches had not been cut for some weeks. The entire site looked totally unwelcoming. This is a shame because the site is ideally situated at the side of the river Loire in a charming town. For a site that had been open for 2 months this is very disappointing.
Nice campsite with sandy beach leading down to River Loire. Attractive view of town across the river. Our pitch was small but others are of good size. Close to town. There is a good Patisserie close by as well as a farm shop..
A lovely site with large pitches. The staff were very welcoming and the facilities were fine. There is a large sandy beach with fine sand leading to the river adjacent to the site that was perfect for an evening stroll. An excellent place to stop off between the south of France and the Channel ports, though we would recommend staying more than one night in this charming place.
We were late arriving at the camp but telephoned ahead and sure enough someone was there to greet us. Only an over-night stop but we will be back.
First class site, clean and very well presented. Excellent sanitary facilities. Choice of shaded/unshaded pitches. First class restaurant and excellent food at reasonable prices.
Being on Loire Velo route cycling excellent.
Town of Gien interesting but dissapointed after climbing over 140 steps to find museam and chateau closed for renovation.
Poor weather spoilt stay and limited cycling trips so will definitely be back in future years.
Well situated campsite opposite the old town of Gien. Despite being on the banks of the Loire and wet weather in October the pitch was dry. A very good place to stay overnight within reach of Calais and the channel ports.
