In the northeastern part of France, just south of the Belgian border, lies the Champagne-Ardenne region. Are you looking to combine camping among the vineyards with a pitch at a very large lake? In that case, set up your caravan at Camping Lac d'Orient. This campsite is located directly on the lake of the same name. The water is surrounded by a gorgeous forested nature area.
Spacious pitches among the trees
Campers who arrive outside the peak season at Camping Le Lac d'Orient can often take their pick from the beautiful and spaciously laid-out pitches. The pitches are located on the playfully landscaped camping grounds. Some fields are long and narrow, whilst others are small and square or rectangular. The rental accommodations are located on a separate part of the campsite.
Facilities and entertainment
The reception, the small campsite shop, the laundry and the indoor swimming pool are located in a modern U-shaped building. Right behind this building, you will find the outdoor swimming pool and the restaurant which serves snacks.
An outdoor swimming pool, an indoor swimming pool and a lake; what more could a water enthusiast wish for? To reach that lake and its fine sandy beach, you only need to leave the campsite and cross the street. Before you know it, you'll be standing with your feet in the sand at the water's edge.
Entertainment in July and August
There is entertainment for all ages in the peak season. The entertainment team organises all sorts of sports activities, as well as dance parties and concerts. You can play a game of volleyball or basketball yourself on the enclosed sports field. Other fun tips: challenge your fellow campers to a game of petanque or work up a sweat on the outdoor fitness equipment.

Why: We chose this site because it happened to be in the right place during our journey from Calais to Spain. It was our first stop after Calais. It looked like a nice site with good reviews. We had stayed at the Municipal in Troyes before and were not impressed.
Location: A bit of further from the A26 then I would have liked but worth it.
Check in – As the ACSI rate had kicked in a few days before we were expecting a smooth check in. We were therefore shocked to hear that at 3pm the site was full. After a conversation between the two receptionists it came to light that they did have a ‘Stay and Go’ pitch. These seemed to be for motorhomes which would use the site at night but drive off during the day. We accepted. The pitch was hard standing with just enough space for the car which was fine. A walk around the site confirmed that the place was heaving.
• The shower block we used was modern well maintained and clean. No complaints.
• Swimming pool quite small for the site and very busy late afternoon. Clean and well maintained. Child friendly.
• Bar and restaurant. We didn’t use but it didn’t seem very busy. Everyone seemed to be in bed by 10.15pm
• Small shop selling the basics including fresh bread and croissants to order.
Pros – well placed overnight stop. Very popular with families. Lovely area.
The lake is across the road and is very popular. There are several kiosks nearby selling snacks and drinks. We had a very good pizza at the Italian restaurant immediately opposite the front gate. Very nice walks around the lake and lots of water sports too.
Cons – pitches are marked but no fence or hedge. Little privacy.
Would we use again – yes. Well run, clean well-maintained site in lovely area. Will book ahead next time.
Good friendly welcome with English spoken, pitches are allocated but you are asked if you want shade or sun. Alternative pitches available if you didn\'t like your chosen one. So quiet at night despite its size. Bread sold in the shop, bit expensive and the croissants were heavy going. Excellent bar and restaurant area with good food and service. Toilet block is the best, 3 hooks in the large shower cubicles, lots of hot water, clean, spacious and modern. Only stayed 2 nights but wished we\'d stopped longer and it will be a regular stop on future trips (new supermarket couple miles away on the main road is well worth stopping at too).
We arrived shortly after the storms so the pitches were waterlogged. They were very accommodating and we were able to pitch on a graveled site using our rock pegs. Good clean facilities. Friendly sports bar. Beautiful area. The campsite is large but well broken up. Lots for children to do. Next to a lake with a beach and a short drive to Troyes.
A lovely site with friendly helpful staff, English is spoken.
Because of the wet weather we had to have the caravan on hardstanding which was not a problem as we could put the awning on the grass.
Two toilet blocks one more modern than the other, both were well kept, the modern one having good facilities for disabled people and famiies.
The inside pool water was warm with showers in the building. A good play area for children.
Not a lot of success with free Wifi and it was only available near the bar, socket outside provided.
Fresh bread can be ordered the day before.
The lake is across the road from the site with a lovely walk along the promenade having ice cream stalls along the way.
Into the forest is a very well equipped visitor centre with disabled parking and plenty of walking space.
For Geocachers there are some caches to be found in the area.
This site is well worth a visit and the ACSI price is good value.
What a fabulous site, friendly staff, facilities to die for the showers well better than some hotels I\'ve stayed in, can\'t wait to go back and for this price this is the standard that all sites should try and achieve. Tthank ACSI.
What a lovely location for a campsite just stroll across the road and the vista of the lake awaits you. The campsite is clean and tidy and the toilet facilities are excellent. The pitches are very generous and most of them separated by hedges so very private.
A word of warning if you don\'t like noisy children plan your stay during the week - it is very popular with young French families at weekends even in low season.
Very nice site in a lovely location - lake opposite site entrance ideal for fishing, boating, swimming.
Very helpful staff and very nice pitches most have good shade. Would visit again.
Great campsite - staff are very friendly.
Swimming pool complex is very good but make sure the men take trunks as they are very strict on long shorts.
Beach is lovely and lake water is warm.
Pitches are massively spacious and good quality.
Sanitaires are good not amazing but just what you need.
Good kids playground and also a bouncy castle.
Food at restaurant is good - nothing special but burgers, pizza and other things - but massive portions.
They had entertainment on every night and the disco night was good fun.
