It was very rainy when we were there so our pitch was a bit muddy. Its very close to the town but it would have been nice if there had been a resaurant closer. Typical French site with hedges separating each pitch so good privacy.
Our first stay in France under canvas (there was campers caravans and tents). I very impressed with the pitch (large and boundary set with hedges) amenities (wash area, sluicing area etc), security (night security, and locked night gate- there is gates to get in and out of the camp-site in an emergency). daily bread delivery. the staff were excellent and very supportive. Dogs are also welcome. the La Marne river runs very close to the camp-site. fabulous location for exploring the world of champagne. we also managed to catch a train at a reasonable price and spent the day in Paris. we will be returning again.
Very well maintained municipal site. In an industrial area but close to the river. Police patrols through the site give a feeling of security. Friendly staff and lots of info in office. Good bar and small restaurant. 20 min walk into town with a lot of champagne houses. Particularly worth a visit and tour is Mercier. Also in season the site offers tours of smaller producers in the countryside. These only cost 7 euros and our trip to Girost-Moussy in Congy was great. A family run vineyard on a small scale, it was a great contrast to the bigger houses. Also great value purchases after tasting with all the family.
Reims is well worth the visit and only a 20 min train ride from Epernay.
Really nice place. Just stayed one night while travelling south through France. A bit hard to find though. The Epernay commune could put up a few more signs!
A very good location for a couple of days in the region or a stop of point for a night. Camp site is clean and quite, very good for a municipal site. Pitches aren't the biggest but good none the less. Nice spot by the river. The facilities, while not exceptional, are and agian very good for a municipal site. The city centre is a 45 min walk, but that beats trying to find somewhere to park!
Great base for the Champagne region. Decent campground run by the municipality. Pitch was denoted by hedge of 3 sides, also giving some privacy. Pitch was a bit compacted as campervans and caravans also use ame pitches. You can walk into the champagne houses in town but it will take at least half an hour. Fine for a few nights.
A great stop over campsite or a great site to stay at for a few days to take in the area. Guy in charge is cheerful and very helpful.
As a short stay or overnight this is excellent. The pitches are surrounded by hedges. The facilities were spotless. There is a restaurant - well, a man cooks in a shed and serves drinks from a frailer and there are a few tables to sit at. The food is quick and basic - but you will understand how the man drives such a flash car when you see the prices - 9 euros for a very average pizza. It is cheap and well appointed. If there are road works in town as when we went - oh boy! It's a devil to find! Staff lovely and speak very good English. Bread van daily.
