Camping Le Mas de Mourgues is a small-scale attractive camping site near the village of Vauvert in the Herault, a lovely area for some nice trips. Explore nature or visit a historic town or village. The nearby nature reserve, the Camargue, is renowned for its large number of bird species. Wild horses and bulls are also well represented in the marshy nature reserve. Le Mas de Mourgues is a family camping site with several fields, an abundance of flowers and a small swimming pool.
Cosy camping site with different pitches
On the attractive camping site you have a choice of different open fields, all looking beautiful and well maintained. Some pitches with more shade than the next. In high season it is a real family camping site and in low season it is mainly frequented by senior citizens who like walking or cycling.
The small swimming pool is centrally located on the grounds. You can swim at a beach some 10 km away. The camping shop and bar are basic, but sitting on the terrace with a view of the camping site is enjoyable. They also have happy hour at 18h00 each afternoon! You can do your shopping some 4 km away. There are two sanitary buildings with vegetation on the roof. The sanitary facilities look neat and are currently being renovated.
Cultural and sporty outings
From the camping site you can, for instance, cycle to Aigues-Mortes, a historic fortified town, the former point of departure of the crusades. Day trips to Arles (tip: weekends are very busy) or Montpellier are also recommended.

The campsite is very clean and tidy, the shower/toilet facilites are clean and modern. The site is ideally placed to visit Arles, Nimes, Sainte-Marie-de-la-Mer and Aigues-Mortes. We saw the pink flamingos and were also lucky enough to see a herd of white horses travelling through some woodland.
The campsite is very clean and tidy. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. English is spoken. Bread can be ordered on site at a very reasonable price
We stayed only one night, but would have liked toy stay more. The staff was very friendly and the pitch was also good. The problem with this camping is that it is far away from any sort of commerce...
We stayed at this campsite in early June 2016, having abandoned a cycle tour of the Loire Valley, due to heavy rain. We chose Flower Camping, Le Mas de Mourgues because, earlier, we had had a good experience at the, superb, Flower Camping, L'Ile d'Offard, Saumur.
Le Mas de Mourgues is a small campsite run by Sandra and Cyril, who live on site and who could not have been more welcoming and friendly.
The cost was very good value for money.
The campsite has quite a lot of trees growing in it, which provide good shade. There was a mixture of caravans, camper-vans and tents, with some guests having stayed on site for several weeks. There were also cabins available to rent. We were in a tent and the pitch was a very decent size. We could have had electricity but did not need it. WiFi was available.
Toilet and shower facilities were modern and clean.
The site has a swimming pool but we did not use it.
Many people had dogs on site with them.
Cyril did most of the maintenance on site and worked hard keeping everything well maintained.
In the evening there was a very convivial 'happy hour' between 6 - 7pm on the terrace next to the main reception and carafes of good local wine were very reasonably priced. Simple evening meals and snacks were available, such as pizzas and chips. The other campers were noticeably friendly, I think, in large part due to the atmosphere created by Sandra and Cyril.
We did a lot of cycling in the surrounding area, which is blissfully flat and there were interesting places to go. The roads felt safe and there were some canal-side cycles paths away from traffic. If cycling, places to buy snacks and drinks may not be that frequent and it is important to be self-sufficient particularly with drinks in the heat.
The campsite is adjacent to a busy main road. It does quieten down at night but the traffic becomes busy quite early in the morning. However the road did not keep me awake.
There are plenty of interesting places to visit by car for days out.
I would thoroughly recommend this campsite.
We stayed here in our caravan in June. We booked in for one night to see how it would go…and we stayed for ten nights. The site is run by a lovely, hardworking family who do everything they can to make their site special. Happy hour was a treat at the end of a hot day. I was known as ‘Monsieur soixante douze’, which made me laugh! Our pitch was large, flat and bordered by flowering shrubs. Toilets and washing facilities were modern and well-kept. We made good use of the small pool to cool down at the end of the day (we stayed through a bit of a heatwave). We toured many local towns and villages, usually on market day, and we regularly did the longish drive to the coast for days on the beach. Wonderful! We missed the ‘moules et frites’ night on the site, but it looked good. We did visit a site recommended vineyard for a tour and tasting – that was great. We had a wonderful and memorable ten days on this lovely site. Thanks ever so much to the owners – we hope to see you again one day.
Stopped here twice on the way down and back. This is a very happy site. The owners do their best to ensure their guests are looked after. The daily 'happy hour" was very popular. Pitches were a good size and the facilities very clean with lovely showers. The pool was kept very clean with an automatic pool cleaning machine. The food looked good, but we never had a chance to take advantage of it. Good cycling and walking in the area.
We were only going to stay over night but ended up being there 3. Lovely bike rides on safe, flat tracks. Facilities immaculate. Although we did use the bar it was very popular. Pretty town 7 kilometres away.
Loved this place.
Wonderful site, in the middle of vinyard, facilities were excellent, the staff were brilliant. My wife particularly enjoyed the fresh bread daily, and the daily happy hour was a really good social ice breaker. Will be returning soon.
Lovely friendly small campsite, Cyril and Sandra are great hosts. Plenty to do and see in the near vicinity if you like wild life, sea and open countryside and Arles, Nimes etc are only a short distance away. Happy hour on the terrace is a good time to meet other campers of different nationalities and sample the local wines. Bread, croissants etc are available every morning to order and supermarkets are only a few kilometres away. We will certainly be making our fourth visit probably next year.
