Surrounded by the Rhône River, Camping Sandaya L’Île des Papes is situated on the tip of a small island. This campsite offers various types of accommodation besides the camping pitches. In summer you can use the heated swimming pools. The entertainment team does everything in its power to entertain guests. A visit to Avignon and the world-famous Palais des Papes is an absolute must.

First visit was 10+ years ago, then it was very much a touring site. We returned in 09/23. This site is more mobile than touring and it shows. Many of the touring pitches are more than 50m from a water tap. The motorhome watering station has all three waters where the Black water had overflowed and its lid cover was loose. This was so badly maintained we did not take on or dump water at the site!. The fresh water fill point is also close to this health hazard. Apart from this the site team are very affable and helpful. Pool spotless and bar food reasonable and good value. The bus [Navette] from the site to Avignon was off in September!, so thats a walk or a cycle. Some better care on the motorhome waters and we will return.

Good campsite with good pools and shop. Nice and quiet in low season. Emplacements a good size, and camping car services at entrance to site. Worth a stay for a few days to visit Avignon and surrounding area.
