In the green surroundings of the Vosges and located in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, you will find camping La Sténiole. This mountainous part of France in the northeast of the country is a superb walking region with vast forests. On the camping site you camp on pitches at the edge of the forest, where you can build and sit around a campfire at night. Savour the homemade pizzas and tarte flambée in the camping site restaurant.
Camping with a view of the forest
The camping pitches at camping site La Sténiole are located between trees and meandering streams. At the edge of the forest, around the small lake or on open lawns. You are staying on a terraced camping site, hence the camping pitches are located at different elevations. The mobile homes have a terrace with a beautiful view of the forest.
The highest water slide
Since 2018 camping site La Sténiole boasts the highest water slide in the area. Undoubtedly, children will be eager to slide down this chute. The slide is located near the outdoor swimming pool. There is also a indoor pool with a retractable roof. When it starts raining, the roof can be closed. You can also go fishing in the small lake. Getting onto the water with a canoe or rubber dinghy is also great fun.
Excursions from the camping site revolve around the beautiful nature. At the reception they will gladly provide you with information for an energetic walk in the Vosges. Furthermore, you can also indulge in mountain biking, bungee jumping or tree climbing in the area. The area around the camping site is a veritable outdoor play paradise for children. Here they can play near mountain streams in the woods or go canoeing on the lake.

Liked - Great green campsite. Lots of trees. We loved making a campfire every night. Sanitary buildings were clean. The kids loved the trampolines , swimming pool and slide. Good selection of ice lollies and icecream. Camping gaz available to buy onsite. Friendly owners.
Disliked - We were unlucky with the weather, but this is of course not the campaign's fault. Our pitch did get very wet. Because of it's location all water from surrounding pitches ran onto our pitch. The pitch itself was in great location. Caravans wouldn't have any issues. Just tricky for tents on very wet days.
Liked - Good atmosphere, friendly staff, and the facilities (restaurant, pizzeria, swimming pool, bread service) were very nice. The camping is very beautifully located along the forest, with quite a lot of really nice spaces and corners. The ability to have a campfire on the pitch was pretty cool and quite atmospheric in the evening. Also very nice that you can just literally walk off the campsite into the forest.
Disliked - There are currently not enough sanitary facilities further down the campsite for the amount of places there are. Especially if you are towards the end of the campsite, it is a bit of a walk, and then a bit of a wait.
Liked - The place on the campside. It's all nature around us. In the evening to make a fire with the kids was very Nice. And the region vosgez was very very beautiful.
Disliked - The internet was very bad. And the toiletbuilding nearby the swimmingpool was good and clean, but the shower was dissapointed. The showerspray was very weak. And the second toiletbuilding nearby the lake was also clean but small. I think it would be better if there were more toilets also for the men as for the women.
Liked - Nice large pitch. Very relaxed. Toilets clean. Kids loved waterslide and pool.
Disliked - Nothing - all good
Liked - The camp ground offers a nice combination of activities and spaces to relax. It's in the middle of a beautiful forest in the mountains so ideal cycling or hiking. Everything is well kept and clean.
Liked - The camping pitch we were shown to was in a busy area near the swimming pool. When i asked for a quieter pitch it was no trouble and we were given a peaceful spot in a field. We lit a fire some nights. Had a great time swimming, sailing a catamaran and messing about in a dingy on lake gerdarmer.
Disliked - Not in walking distance of a village. The pool was too small for the amount of visitors - however it was peak season!
Liked - Very peaceful and relaxing stay in lovely surroundings.
We were made welcome.
Liked - Nice surrounding in the woods
Disliked - The weather
Liked - everything
Disliked - crying babies, snoring neight
crying babies, snoring neighbours
Liked - We loved the location of the campsite, up a windy road in the middle of the forest on the side of a mountain. We were lucky enough to have a pitch next to the fishing lake. For us, the fact we could have a campfire every night was fantastic and really added to the atmosphere. The pool was lovely, it was under cover so it could be used when it rained and when the days were a bit cooler. The washing facilities were cleaned twice a day, and were spotless. All staff were friendly, there is a restaurant and a pizzeria. We did not use the children's entertainment so could not comment.
Disliked - The site is predominantly frequented by Dutch, French and Germans. So all the information is in these language. It would be nice for their to be some information in English, but this is a minor thing. It would also be good to have more fresh water points, tbh we struggled to find one. Also, for the icecream place to be open more often, it was afterall peak season.
