We had intended to stay for 3 to 4 days but ended up residing for 2 weeks. We arrived end of May and up until we departed there were very few campers so very peaceful. The pithches are spacious especially those near the main building (45-48). The site is ideally located to explore a very pretty part of the Lot region with many towns/ villages highlighted in previous reviews. There is probably one of the best Sunday markets in the nearby town Limogne-en-Quecy, so don’t miss it. If you want a really relaxing period then this site is recommended between end May till third week of June, so we will no doubt revisit. The owners, Jenny and Nigel are very friendly, helpful and a good source of local knowledge. Carjac, which is 8k down the road is a lovely town and a walk down the river front there is a must. A small but adequate InterMarche is also located in this town which also has a weekly market.
Hello William, thank you very much for your comments. We enjoyed having you to stay on the campsite and hope you will come and visit us again.
Jenny and Nigel
We have just returned from a fantastic visit to Camping Ruisseau Du Treil. The location is absolutely stunning, beyond beautiful. There's actually a small river running right through the area of the campsite, it's such a peaceful place that you can hear it gurgling most of the time.
Jenny and Nigel gave us such a warm welcome and we settled in very quickly in the mobile home, which is really well set up, feeling immediately at home and very well looked after. Facilities are good, clean, comprehensive and well thought out: plenty of hot water, blankets for cooler evenings, a lovely seating area, even a gazebo and table and chairs outside. There was plenty had we wanted to stay in but the surrounding area is so beautiful and yet surprisingly uncrowded that you're spoilt for choice. We'd recommend walking immediately from the campsite (amazing wildlife); Saint-Cirq-Lapopie not far off, a strikingly beautiful village with brilliant artisan shops and super restaurants, which can be walked to via a cliffside towpath; canoe-ing on either the Lot or the Cele, nearby; or visiting one of the nearby towns.
Swimming pool fabulous - perfect for cooling down on a warm afternoon. I thoroughly recommend, we'll be going back!
This is our second visit and we loved it so much that we have returned this year during our travels. I do not understand the previous comments. We have found the owners friendly and thoughtful and very helpful. It is a well known French rule not to wear shorts in the swimming pools so don't do it then there won't be a problem. The pitches are huge and very well kept. The facilities are clean and the site very well maintained. Bread service and lots of info and bar and food all good. Very pretty area with the river just a short way from the campsite. Our dog loves having a dip in the Lot. Very dog friendly site too. In the past two years of travelling in France over the summer we have stayed at over 50 different sites and this is in our top three.
This was such a find. Quiet, friendly, very large pitches and a lovely swimming pool area. The Lot Valley is such a beautiful place - the medieval style buildings gives the impression of being in a fairy tale. Nigel and Jenny were helpful, friendly and welcoming. We would thoroughly recommend this site.
Yes I agree with the previous reviewer, Nigel was also very rude to us. He speaks to you as though you are a child he has no manners or customer service skills. You are not allowed to wear swimming shorts in the pool, or chat outside after 10 o'clock. It is a shame because the site could be so very nice!!!
A super site in beautiful surroundings. We swam in the river most days, but the swimming pool which had just opened (end of June) was clean and a great place to relax. Our pitch was very large with some good shade. Lots of beautiful wild flowers and butterflies in the valley and around the campsite. The owners were lovely and very helpful and we enjoyed chatting to them over a beer in the evenings. Would thoroughly recommend.
This is a lovely site in a stunning location .It is set in a narrow valley with a stream running through. The pitches were large and , in early June, we had plenty of choice. There was an information folder with details of local walks, cycle routes, local markets etc, which was very helpful. We did the walk directly from the site which was a lovely walk, about 6 miles, with lovely views and full of interest. The beautiful village of Cirq Lapopie is close by, as are many other lovely villages. The Lot valley is stunning and this site was perfect as a base for exploring the area.
Super quiet friendly site. Our pitch had lots of shade and a great view up the valley. Would highly recommend.
We had a fantastic fortnight at Ruisseau du Treil. The pitches were flat, very large and had some shade, which helped the tent cool down in the evening. The two pools were clean and despite being well used, never felt overcrowded. As well as the pool there was an area for playing boules, table football, table tennis, a park and bikes that could be borrowed free of charge. There was also a well stocked library for those who were less sporty! The bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. The owners were very helpful and friendly and booked day trips for us to go to Peche Merle and canoeing. A lovely peaceful campsite which we would definitely recommend.
New owners this year, making improvements to the site.
Better power arrangements - more bollards, but not greater amperage (still 5).
One toilet block has been re-furbished, second one still to be done.
Access lane within site to majority of pitches requires some work to be done to enable units easier access.
Access into the site reasonable, but not so good for leaving as leads out onto a blind bend on the road through the village.
Food being cooked on site at very good prices - well received.
As the site is in a fairly narrow valley, sunrise can be late and sunset can be early.
Wifi on site, but mobile phones do not work on site. Must go out of site onto road through village to obtain a signal.
Good effort being made to improve site by new owners.
