Beautiful site on an island with large grassy pitches - no fences around site and fabulous view of the river and the town - very peaceful.
We stayed here for 2 nights with a tent .The pitch was large and next to the river, it was very quiet although the pitches by the river were all taken up.
We thought this to be an excellent site a lady came round each evening selling hot food which was very popular.
Access over the bridge is not as difficult as previous revue but some of the pitches could be difficult for large outfits. Plenty of water points and toilet blocks are kept clean but apart from this most facilities are basic but, for the price, good value. BE CAREFUL not to arrive between 12:30 and 2:30 outside July and August as reception is closed and there is bar or restaurant to wait in.
Many tents for hire with a large party of bikers while we were there. The party used the marquee for their extremely noisy get together. The music was so loud that we had to move to another pitch as it became dark. The \'music\' became louder throughout the night so sleep was impossible, even after it finally quietened at 3am. The bikers intended to repeat their revelry for a second night too. We had planned to stay for 5 nights but moved on the next morning, as did many other caravans and motorhomes. So be warned, the management won\'t tell you about organised parties, you will only find out when it\'s too late to move on.
We had mixed feelings about this site. The site has most of what a you could wish for. It is in a brilliant location and the pitches are generous. Like many other municipal/ex-municipal sites, it has had a lot of capital invested in it. The pity is that those assets don\'t seem to be particularly well managed.
I have to say that the attitude of the receptionist/manager/ whatever person was not good. I would make a guess that she is a public servant and does not understand customer satisfaction brings more trade and hence more profit.
This could be a brilliant site, especially considering its situation and close proximity to a very interesting town. Sad to see that the management is not up to the task.
One final important point, access from the office to the island is through a tunnel but you then have to negotiate a curved bridge. It is a challenge for a medium sized caravan and don\'t even try it with a large one!
A spectacular approach to this campsite and many of the pitches are on the river bank looking across to Moissac. The pitches had some privacy with lines of hedges between, but the grass was not cut, so not very pleasant in the wet. There is free wifi in a room at reception. Pleasant walk into Moissac, about 45 minutes.
We stayed in September. The site was lovly with views over river and 10 steps to river bank. Town was lovely with nice walks and go fishing.
