Camping La Bien-Assise issituated close to the centre of Guînes, a village not far from Calais. The castle camping site is therefore popular with British tourists for whom this is the first (or last) stopover in France. The camping site is located in an attractive, rather flat, rural area. The grounds are dominated by large trees and look very attractive. The rural setting will give you an immediate French holiday feeling, while the coast of the English Channel is not far away.
Camping site and sanitary facilities
There are 46 mobile homes on the camping site which are fitted with all amenities. There are also four wooden, fully furnished rental holiday cottages. Other camping guests have access to good and modern sanitary facilities in the service building.
Because camping La Bien-Assise is not directly situated on the sea, a lake or river, it has a covered swimming pool with large water slide. However, at a distance of only 16 km, you will find Escalles and Cap Blanc-Nez, where you can spend the day on the beach. Wimereux and Sangatte are located at similar distances.
On the grounds you will also find the three-star hotel L’auberge du Colombier, located in a small 19th century castle, as well as the restaurant La Ferme Gourmande. The restaurant serves classic French dishes, also on the terrace when the weather allows it. From here you have a view of the castle's dovecote. There is a cosy bar near the reception (with a small library).
As is the case at most camping sites, camping La Bien-Assise also has its own small shop. Are you looking for a larger assortment? In Guînes itself there is a variety of supermarkets and typical French shops.

Great campsite with lovely large pitches .resturant food very good and not overpriced
large site in the grounds of a cháteau, but well spread out so it doesn\'t feel overcrowded. The restaurant on site looks nice but we didn\'t use it, the bar, though, was overcrowded and we wanted to have a drink but left before ordering.
Lovely site. Very convenient for Calais. 15 mins to Tunnel. Great swimming pool. Very large pitches. Only one issue was road noise early morning, but it didn’t spoil our stay.
Easy to get to from Calais. Excellent swimming pool and bar on site. Good relaxed atmosphere.
perfect spot for overnight after/prior channel crossing. excellent restaurant. good pitches which are allocated - you do not choose. some in sun some shade. small pool always full of kids. can get very busy on site. i will always return as ideal for 1 night stopover.
Lovely camp site, perfect for families, two restaurants, one of which was expensive but had an excellent menu. 30 minutes from Calais, so very good to use as transit but a very nice site to spend more time at. A short walk into Guines and 20 mins from the coast. If you want to top up with French wine, many supermarkets and wine suppliers.
The site has a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Swimming pool, toilets and other facilities are kept clean and staff are friendly and helpful.
We have been regular visitors to this caravan site for over 20 years, sometimes staying for 1 or 2 nights. or sometimes for 7 or more nights. The site has consistently improved during those years. and in our opinion it is the best caravan site in France. The facilities are spotless, and the grounds and camping area are immaculately maintained
Overnight stop in beautifully cared for and well managed site. Grass pitches large but didn’t expect Eurocamp to figure as prominently as they did, totally convenient to Eurotunnel and as consequence will definitely use again. Our experience this time however was spoiled by noisy and uncontrollable children on pitch next door.
Great place to stop before crossing back to England
