On the French Atlantic coast, less than one hour from Nantes, is the de L’Hermitage du Dunes campsite located right by the sea. From the bar, the restaurant, and some of the camping pitches you have a breath-taking view over the ocean, which has very strong tides here. Local tip: gather your own seafood by ‘foot fishing’ on the beach.

When you find your pitch, you will immediately notice how nice and quiet the atmosphere on the campsite is. The pitches are spacious, and some have views of the sea. The campsite also rents out a number of mobile homes. In the summer, you will find many French families with children. In the low season, it is a popular place for rest seekers from all over the world. The plumbing was refurbished in 2019.

Swimming and foot fishing

Do you like swimming? Thanks to the heated and covered pool, you can enjoy the water starting in April. The little ones can splash and play in the paddling pool. And, of course, you can enjoy the beach and the sea. The beach is only 50 metres from the campsite. You can walk there through the gate of the campsite.

Depending on whether it is low or high tide, the beach varies considerably in size. You can sunbathe and swim or walk and bike. Foot fishing is also a popular activity here. That means you can collect your own shells and seafood while you’re hiking and then prepare a fresh meal at the campsite! Because of the many sharp shells, water shoes are recommended for the little ones.

Liked - Nice site, right on beach. 20 min walk to nearest pretty village, along seafront path.

I booked this site after it was recommended to me. Initially booked for 6 days, and paid by debit card. The pitches have seen better days. Its mostly dirt with a grass fringe! While the pitch was large enough the track leading to it was narrow and rutted for the majority of its length, when it\'s rained you need wellies to get to the shower block. The inside of the shower block is good, thd outside is shabby and long overdue a lick of paint. There were construction workers on site working on what\'s was once the reception building and bar, this is now all combined in one room although there are no signs indicating where reception is! Overall the site looks tired. The one lady staff member seemed uninterested. To gain site access through the barrier she wanted my driving licence to retain in order to receive a barrier tag. I had to leave for family reasons back in the UK, and although k showed the young lady my sailing details for the following morning she refused to refund any money for the days I would not be staying. She said it was her policy not to give any refunds. I would not recommend this site, its old, tired and dirty. The attitude stinks. All they want os your money. My advice, stay away.
