Nice site . Spacious plot. Lovely lake side walk. Swimming pool and facilities first class. Close to Angers.
Good clean campsite, with level long pitches, each with electric and a water point between two. We went at end of season so it was quiet but pool and restaurant still open. Receptionists speak good English. Excellent park and lake facilities and level cycling tracks so only 15 mins cycling into centre of town which has plenty to see ( chateau and cathedral). Toilet and shower block unisex, but modern and cleaned hourly with good size shower and basin cubicles. Show a caravan club card and get a 10% discount.
Very good site with very helpful staff. Pitches were rather long than wide, but suited our motorhome. Facilities all fine, but cannot comment on pool as closed. Easy cheap bus into Anger which needs a couple of days at least to look round. Massive lake to walk round next to the site. The site even had a number plate recognition to operate the barrier.
I have put not applicable for the swimming pool as it was out of commission for repairs when we stayed, never the less it looked good and we would have used it if it were operational. The site was clean and well managed, close to the town and in a wonderful park setting. Well worth a stay and visit.
There are some very mixed reviews here! We found du Lac de Maine to be quite acceptable - well-maintained, clean & spacious, although as previously noted, some pitches are a bit long & narrow. The site is adjacent to a lakeside nature reserve, although the lake is not visible from the site. Cycle trails lead off into the park & also directly to Angers (c.30mins ride) & the bus stops nearby. Sanitary facilities are clean & plentiful; staff are pleasant & helpful. Wi-fi is available throughout the site, the signal/speed is not great, but at least it’s free! We liked it here & would return.
A lovely site in beautiful surroundings. Pitches are long and narrow so make sure they give you a choice. They didn\'t give us a choice and put us directly next to the trampolines so we returned and got another pitch. Quiet site if you are away from the play area. Cafe poor and drinks expensive so only used once. Would happily return.
We were a party of two motorhomes (family) asked for two pitches adjacent if possible, were given two to find one allready occupied to we were seperated not a big issue but the pitches wee were given were long and very skinny only room to put van in along hedge and no room to put awning(neighbours van was to hedge and their awning was out about 2ft right to the other hedge) we are non smokers but our neighbour had no choice but to smoke in his chair right under our windows, there were lots of empty pitches side by side and still empty in the morning we left. Toilet/shower windows were clear glass, take your own toilet paper, toilet pans were brown.
Unfriendly reception almost cold even though I consider I speak good French. Had to ask for card to be able to exit site and on other details asked extremely unhelpful. Site needs updating badly, unkempt pitches, weeds overgrown grass. For a site supposedly opened in March they haven't done much to improve things. Pitches narrow ours narrowed to a point. Far too close to neighbours as we heard them talking, opening cupboards. Basically a ghost site I even expected tumbleweed to be blowing through. Not at all pleasant, we were glad to get a phone call to say our friends had arrived early in France.
Du Lac de Maine provides a perfect place to stay for a few nights or long week-end, like we did over August bank holiday. We took 7 nights for the cost of 6 and had a perfect stay with the benefit of seeing the beautiful city of Angers 5 mins drive away and choosing from the many activities available in the massive park next door. On the site the pitches are generally a good size for most rigs and an eating or sunbathing area - or awning if you wish. We had a motorhome and trailer and plenty of room. Not all piches are level and not all have grass, but there was plenty of choice to find something suitable. Overall the facilities and pool etc were faultless and we will certainly return. The Wi-fi is not overall although they think it is and you will generally see campers using it only near the pool and reception/administration. However, these are all very small points and don't really detract from the great time we had at Lac de Maine, a real find for a motorhome break.
