Camping site Le Parc de Vaux is located on the la Varenne river, near the village of Ambrières-les-Vallées. The camping grounds are in an idyllic setting under tall trees on the riverbank. On the water you will see canoes, kayaks and pedalos while the area along the green banks is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The camping pitches on this traditional camping site are separated from each other by hedges.
Camping by the river
The camping site is spaciously laid out in a park-like setting on the sloping river bank. You camp along paved pathways on grass and mostly under trees. You can opt for a pitch directly by the river. The camping pitches are separated from each other by hedges. The terrain is hilly, so that most pitches are not level. There are some attractive rental bungalows available on a separate section of the camping site. You can also hire motorhomes and a few tents there.
The camping site forms part of a recreational park. Directly next to the camping site is a heated outdoor swimming pool with toddler pool and water slide. Camping guests may make free use of this. There is also a playground. You can play a game of tennis or a round of mini golf for a fee. You can rent pedalos, canoes and kayaks near the jetty. There is also a canoe club where you can learn canoeing and kayaking.
The camping site is suitable for guests who are often out and about to explore the area. The facilities on this camping site are very standard and the sanitary facilities are fairly modest. There are a few additional amenities only during the peak season, in July and August. The bar and restaurant are also open during that time.

Liked - Pretty scenery, friendly welcome
Disliked - Pitches not flat, very hilly, facilities basic
Liked - lovely setting next to the river. can be very quiet. for a short stay, it’s worth it for the low cost. receptionist very helpful, when there.
Disliked - only one male and one female toilet available, unheated. not enough hot water in showers. Sunday afternoon snooze broken by noise from unecessary work with a petrol leaf blower. most pitches a little sloping, we found a flat one. wifi very local and weak.
Liked - Activities
Disliked - Toilet/shower block not maintained enough. Toilet paper forever running out. Not clean enough.
Liked - The site is in a lovely location with friendly reception staff, La Varenne runs along side offering riverside walks. Sadly the site is let down by its antiquated toilet/shower blocks which are in serious need of renovation. If you want a peaceful stay try to avoid the weekend as the French families love to have a loud natter with their barbecues.
Liked - We were most disappointed, we picked this site because the pool was supposed to be open but when we arrived it was shut and had been that way for a while. After a long drive we were looking forward to a dip. Nice river side site but that's all it had going for it. Facilities basic. Will not go again.
Liked - Staff were very friendly and helpful and appreciative of even my poor attempts at French. Swimming pool had life guard so over 7 yr olds could go on their own. Lovely locataion with lots of river walks and cycles.
Disliked - By 27 August the camp site was pretty quiet. Also we hadn't realised that the swimming pool and play area were 'outside' the campsite area, and used by the locals so when it was hot it was extremely busy. Also, the mini golf and tennis weren't free. The kids club wasn't going either. Disappointed as we thought these facilities were exclusive to the campsite, probably missed it when reading the web site but others make sure you realise what you're getting as we hadn't come across this before. Also, shop on site didn't sell anything if you were caught short.
Liked - Really nice and quiet camping besides a small river. Still lots of thing to do like watercycling, canoeing and walking. There is a nice village near the camping it does not even take 30 min to go there! The camping owners are such nice people and will think along with you. Definately a camping to go back to.
Liked - Helpful staff who spoke English and were able to help us find the local Rapido dealer. Nothing was too much trouble. Very, very quiet out of season, but something we appreciate. Next to the Mayenne river with a footpath right outside the campsite making it easy to explore locally.
Liked - We stayed here the second week in May 2016. There were many people in the chalets and huts and a fair few campers and motorhomes. We stayed for two nights and during that time only one small sanitary block was open and only one working WC. We did not see anyone cleaning. It was very disappointing because the site is in such a lovely location.
Liked - We only stayed here for one night so do not have an in depth view of the site. Generally very functional. Pitches on the majority of the site are marked and hedged but many are small, especially those alongside the lake. Single axle caravans should cope however. We pitched on an unmarked area which was on a terrace and overlooked the lake. A very nice spot and we would return. Wifi available free at the bar/reception. Canoeing and swimming in the lake and a public swimming pool is available next door. It was very hot when we were there and the pool was very full and very noisy!! Just what you would expect. Lovely walks available around the lake including in to the local village.
