Campsite Sunêlia l’Hippocampe is located in the town of Volonne, in the heart of Haute-Provence and on the river Durance. The typical Provençal landscape with lavender fields, sunflowers and olive trees surrounds the property. L'Hippocampe is a large family campsite with many excursions and activity programmes for all ages. There is a water park with two large heated pools, a kiddie pool, five water slides, a sunbathing area with lounges and a jacuzzi. Since 2024, the campsite has an additional area with pitches of 100m², 130m², 170m², and 260m². It includes a private reception with a shop and bakery, a beach bar, a sports field, and a 3400m² lagoon.

Plenty to experience

Sports, fun and activities are the key words at l'Hippocampe. The activity clubs are divided up by age: there are children's clubs for mini kids aged 4-9 and for children aged 9-13. These are both open in July and August. Workshops, cooking lessons, treasure hunts and performances are organised. For teenagers aged 13 and over there is the Teens club, with all kinds of sports tournaments, creative workshops, pool games and a weekly show. A special feature is that many activities take place in a yurt.

Fishing and canoeing

At the location of the campsite, the river Durance is so wide it has created a lake. You cannot swim in this lake, but you can fish. Also fun: take a water bike or canoe out onto the water. The sites are reasonably spacious, primarily flat and on grass.

The campsites with electricity are located in a orchard and are intended for tents and pop up campers. The comfort sites for caravans and campers (and also tents) have individual water and waste lines. You can also pitch a little tent for free on all sites. For campers, there is also a camper stop with a service area available for a special rate.

Liked - Fijne tent aan de rivier. Mooie grote camping met veel goed onderhouden groen. Onze meiden van 14 en 17 hebben zich goed vermaakt in het zwembad en bij de disco.
Lieve medewerkers die echt hun best voor je doen.
Disliked - Het entertainment deed zijn best, maar een aantal zongen niet zo mooi. Dit was niet aangenaam om naar te luisteren.

Liked - Een camping waar veel georganiseerd wordt voor 'schoolgaande' kinderen.
Disliked - Een plek om je baby/dreumes te wassen en aan te kleden. Dit hebben wij als een groot gemis ervaren. Waardoor de wasmomenten met onze 1 jarige zoon een heel grote uitdaging waren.

Er kan niet gezwommen worden in de rivier.

Disliked - Wifi was ontzettend slecht. Dat mag niet voor een 5* camping.

Liked - Ruim opgezette camping met veel groen. In het hoogseizoen erg druk, met name tussen 10 en 18u bij het zwembad waar dan geen ligbedje vrij is en je in het water alleen ruimte hebt om te staan. Er worden de hele dag door activiteiten georganiseerd door een enthousiast animatieteam. Prima restaurant en snack, beperkt winkeltje maar wel met elke dag vers brood. De stacaravan waar we verbleven was netjes en schoon, met een ruime veranda en veel privacy, groen en rust.
Disliked - De capaciteit van de zwembaden is onvoldoende voor de omvang van de camping. Het is rond de zwembaden, terrassen en bij het restaurant de hele dag en avond druk. Jammer dat er alleen WiFi beschikbaar is bij het restaurant, op het terras en het zwembad.

Liked - Heerlijke camping, alle voorzieningen aanwezig. Nabijheid van de Durance en de bergen zorgt ervoor dat je ook heerlijk kan sporten buiten de camping
Disliked - Nieuwe deel van de camping aan de andere kant van de rivier heeft een mooie lagune, echter de extra campingplaatsen zorgen er wel voor dat het super druk is in het zwembad. Vorig jaar was het “gezellig druk” in het zwembad in dezelfde periode, nu is het echt te druk.

Liked - We hebben ons prima vermaakt op deze camping in een prachtige omgeving. Mooi zwembad, nieuwe lagune, winkeltje, bar, restaurant. Vriendelijk personeel. Ook animatie.
Disliked - Bij de snacks onder de houten tafels veel rommel. Misschien iets vaker vegen.
