The location of campsite Kanopée-Village à Trevoux is unique: within walking distance of the lovely town of Trévoux, on the banks of the Saône river and at half an hour's drive from Lyon.

Bird nest

The campsite has a large range of pitches, is shady and has a diversity of greenery. Most pitches are separated by hedges. Some pitches are located along the jogging track and water. However, the houses on stilts ('bird nests') are the main attraction of the campsite. They are of a striking design and attract many weekend guests. Because the units are spread across the grounds, the adjacent pitches are slightly less private.

Pathway along river

The campsite itself has few amenities. The campsite relies on the surrounding area. There is direct access from the campsite to the walking and cycling trail along the Saône. Routes are available from the reception. The campsite also offers guided walks. You can go canoeing and hiking in the vicinity.

Regional products

At the reception you can buy regional products (such as wine). There is also a bread service. There is a supermarket within cycling distance. Just outside the campsite you can enjoy a meal for a reasonable price.

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - Very clean well maintained, limited facilities but the end of the season and all clean and well cared for. Pitches large, felt private and adequate shade. Fantastic spot next to the river, great for getting to town and walking or cycling the river route. Friendly staff and helpful.
Disliked - Large groups of young possibly temporary workers staying in the lodges on site. They stayed up and were sat outside and noisy until 1am. They were playing music admittedly in the late afternoon and whilst we are not shock with lyrics including “f**k” frequently, it isn’t what you want to hear while relaxing on a otherwise pleasant campsite on holiday. They were also up en mass and leaving the site with much banging at 6am in diesel vans. It is a shame but not a good mix with holiday vibe and would prevent me booking the site again.

Liked - Stayed for one night. Late arrival not a problem. Lovely setting on the riverbanks with private pitches shaded by trees.

Liked - Very helpful reception staff. Campsite situation good for visiting town. Campsite washing and toilet facilities seemed inadequate. Other than that campsite washing very well laid out and cared for.
Disliked - As already stated about toilets etc. The town has a shortage of restaurants, thank goodness for the Pizza van in near car park.
