This site is near Ingolstadt and one we used as an overnight stop on our way to and from Croatia. Is situated literally a few minutes from the Autobahn which is very handy. It’s one of the Caravan & Motorhome Club’s German sites and as such, will take overnight vouchers – however, the Staff were not sure how this system works and it took a few minutes and a couple of phone calls to use it. Very friendly and helpful Staff though, so no problems. The site is a very open and roomy one in a wooded area next to a lake (Auwaldsee). There are no laid out lines or pitches, just an area full of trees with EHU posts dotted around the place (long cables recommended if the place is busy I would think). You can park where you like. This works fine in the quiet times but could be a nightmare in high season. It’s very peaceful, nonetheless. Although close to the autobahn, you can’t hear it and the site is big enough to enjoy a walk around, with the additional attraction of a circular lakeside path. There is a small playground area for children and the site welcomes dogs. Toilets and showers are clean with plentiful hot water. Water points were fairly easy to find and waste water drainage was close to one of them. Chemical toilet waste was separate and in its own little location outside. There is a restaurant just outside the entrance barrier (we didn’t use it as we were only there for a night). Auwaldsee prides itself on being an environmentally-friendly site and this shows (in a good way). You are basically in a forest setting and the management wants this kept as natural as possible. There are “hobbit huts” or pods around for rent and this adds to the ambience. Please note: there is no wifi at this site, which does pride itself on the peaceful nature of the location.
