Nibelungen-Camping Am Schwimmbad is a lovely camping site for seekers of peace and quiet, but who also enjoy active sports and nature. Senior citizens are also keen to stay here. Everything is clean and well organised. The surrounding area has much to offer for walkers and cyclists.
Well maintained and clean
On arrival the camping site immediately makes a neat impression. The permanent pitches also look well cared for. You get to the reception on the first floor via a flight of stairs. The owners, brother and sister, are happy to assist you. The tourist pitches are directly located near the entrance of the camping site. The entire camping site is well maintained, neat and tidy.
Space and quiet
The camping fields are spacious, and every two or three are demarcated with bushes and streets. If preferred, you can also park your motorhome on a paved site. Other than that, there is little difference between the pitches. This is the place to be for guests looking to enjoy their quiet surroundings.
Swimming in the sun
Adjacent to the camping site is the municipal swimming pool with water slide. You can soak up the sun here. Near the reception there is also a lovely recreation room.
Sanitary facilities looking brand new
The sanitary facilities are pristine and complete (you will even find baby powder in the baby room). The room looks like new and is regularly adorned with fresh flowers. You can do your shopping around the corner from the camping site. It is only a short walk further down to two large well-stocked supermarkets. In the village you will find quite a number of eating establishments.

We stayed for two nights with our daughter. The toilet facilities are modern, clean and well organised. There is a pleasant under cover area with a table tennis table and table football which is great for the kids to meet up in. There is a small playground and also some rabbits to view. All these things make it a great site for children. However, we were pitched close to the play area and had to contend with lots of noise and kids kicking a football repeatedly into the hedge next to us. Some parents were happy to send their very young children to the play area very early in the morning which again, led to lots of noise.
My biggest issue with this site is that the swimming pool is offsite (which is fairly common) and a five minute walk away, but there is no discount for people staying at the site. It seems a bit misleading to advertise the site as having a swimming pool under the circumstances.
Finally, the local area is quite run down and fairly unattractive. We went out cycling one day and there wasn’t much for tourists. The neighbouring towns seemed quite depressed and the locals were rather grumpy.
The site would be fine for a stop over but I wouldn’t consider it a destination, despite the best efforts of the owners.
Liked - all of it
Disliked - nothing
Liked - Friendly owners, well kept campsite, good facilities and every other camper was respectful of each other and their were no noises (other than wildlife) in the evening.
Disliked - The ground was a bit hard to get tent pegs in to, there seemed to be a lot of rock and thick tree roots under the tent pitch, however we arrived in a heatwave.
