If you want to share 3 toilets, 3 showers, with at least 200 people, go here, the site is huge, so some pitches so far from facilities the campers had to cycle in. It was July and very busy so was expecting that, but queuing for toilets, and showers often 20 and more in the queue not good. You arrive and can’t look for a place till you have registered, then it’s a free for all, their mantra, pack them in!! That’s fine if there’s enough facilities for everyone but there isn’t. The Rhine! we didn’t see it till we left.
We stayed here 1 night by chance in 2015 and loved the site, we came back for 3 nights in 2016 and now that we have a large 8 m long RV we booked a 3 month stay! 10 mins off the Autobahn at Koblenz with good access for large motorhomes and no height issues. Wonderful views of the Rhine with lovely sun rise and sun sets. The river traffic of Rhine cruise boats, pleasure boats and cargo boats are very pleasant and soothing to watch. The local trains pass quietly but the freight trains are noisy, it is after all the Rhine Valley so everything hugs the River. Facilities are modern and regularly serviced with plenty of showers and toilets, chemical loo dumps , dish washing , washing machines / driers and cooking hot plate facilities. The restaurant is very nice with a large outside terrace overlooking the Rhine
well staffed. Very nice children's pool and large Adults swimming pool with slide, terrace , sun lounges and shower .
Anna and Horst are both very warm and welcoming owners who both speak good English. Very quiet in the evenings and very secure everybody leaves their bbqs and bikes beside their campers. Cycling is superb along the Rhine with the lovely town of Boppard just 3 miles away and Aldi , Lidl and Netto supermarkets close by too. The Sesselbahn chair lift is a must do up to the restaurant and view point of the 180 degree bend in the Rhine the chairlift carries bikes too as there is a mountain biking course at the summit plus down hill adventure courses. Driving along the Rhine is simply stunning and pure enjoyment be it by boat, bicycle ,motorbike or car. The towns of St Goar and Oberwessell , Loch and Rudesheim to name just a few are all very interesting, quiet, very clean and with easy parking, there are regular inexpensive car ferries to take you to the other side of the Rhine every 5 miles or so. I highly recommend camping Sonneneck , if you stay once you'll feel at home and return again and again.
