Camping Lido Verbano is situated on the south side of the Lago Maggiore, in the town of Castelletto sopra Ticino. Although Lido Verbano is situated on a busy road, this is not really noticeable on the campsite. The pitches are located quite a distance away from the road, in the direction of the lake.

Bar on lakeside. qur

Payment was complicated and took time. Cash 2 EU, then another request for cash 4 EU, then a request for card payment. Then a request for 20 EU cash deposit. Then a request for bank transfer. On departure, a request for cash EU 2. All this took time and people were in the waiting queue in the sun.

We stayed one night whilst touring. It is a very busy site, do not pick it if like us you like a quiet peaceful site. It is not in the prettiest part of lake Maggiore and is off a long built up road with lots of shopping malls. The pitch had a lake view but was small and difficult to manoeuvre into even though we only have a small campervan. We were worried we would drive over the tent next door trying to adhere to the rule we must not park across the pitch but face the lake. The mosquitoes were unpleasant in the evening but worse was being doused in insecticide the following morning at 6am (the was an announcement the previous evening to keep all doors and windows closed but it was too hot and the pop top of the camper has air vents which cannot be shut). The staff member who we dealt with at check in and check out was super friendly and very helpful. The children enjoyed a swim in the lake and jumping off a floating pontoon. The sanitary block was in good condition and clean but there was nowhere to hang clothes and keep them dry whilst showering and hot water was on a timer which kept going off. The lights were on a scheduled timer so it was quite dark most of the time. There was loud music across the lake until late which made sleeping difficult.

Lovely friendly campsite, lovely surrounding next to Lake. Dog friendly -dogs allowed on part of grass beach and in lake for swimming. Have stayed multiple times both there and back for a few nights to break journey. Staff excellent, supermarket opposite with a few restaurants close. Italian chinese opposite good value lovely food both Chinese and Italian. Understand that station in walking distance if you wanted to go into Milan. Hopefully we will stay again this year!
