Sail on Frisian waters during the day and then camp by the open waterway or by the impressive marina. This idyllic picture is a reality at Camping Drijfveer near Akkrum (in central Friesland). This is a campsite where it's all about water sports. The campsite has been built around Jachthaven Tusken de Marren (marina), as it were. You have views of the water and the passing boats from everywhere. There are several types of boats for hire, but you can also take your own boat.

Electric connections are old and it looked more like a professional enterprise than a leisure one. Reception was frosty.

Unusual campsite next to the canals made for a fantastic holiday. Beautiful clean amenities, very pleasant staff and a very picturesque location. Great bar staff, lovely meals. Pitch was a little tight for a twin axle long caravan but we made it work and we’d visit again for sure. Very friendly people many of whom return year on year.
