We arrived there Friday evening and were given no information except to come to reception at 9am the next morning to pay by cash which was fine. The lady who\\\'s name I didn\\\'t catch was lovely, she gave us a full brief of the park including maps and even put half a dozen bread rolls in the oven for us. You have to book rolls the day previous which is fine, but as we hadn\\\'t been given the information previous she was more than accomadating. Thank you to the reception lady who wears glasses. However it\\\'s a shame that the rest of the staff were not as experienced in customer services, needless to say we will never return and neither will the other 20 units that we were doing a recce for, we were planning on two months next summer but we will now go somewhere else.
So, the children\\\'s play area was ok, lots of elder teenages taking over intimidating the younger kids, on the trampolines and swings. Also golf buggies from rented residence on the park zooming at dangerous speeds around the park, but apparently were not allowed on the camping area! Even the staff say that they do what they want! There is a speed limit, but they do not stick to it and several little children who were on the grass had to be bought inside for safety reasons. This is not what you want for your holiday.
The toilet facilities are mobile type units, the more up to date ones are at the other end of the park. Washing facilities are €5 per wash with €1 for a wash capsule. Plenty of hot water but the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, not clean at all, apparently the cleaners were meant to clean twice a day in high season, only once a day did we see them and yes we were pitched opposite.
Reference pitch, several of us were completely water logged, a few that we saw left their pitch to be moved to another pitch which was the children\\\'s playing area.
Aparantley we are still in the high season, therefore the shop should be open, it wasn\\\'t, the snack bar should be open, it wasn\\\'t, the kids club should have been open, it wasn\\\'t. The Chinese restaurant was ok, staff friendly which after every thing was a bonus. The distance of the shop isn\\\'t for the faint hearted, if you plan to walk, don\\\'t, if you are elderly or have difficulties In walking or cycling you won\\\'t make the shop. You must take a car or enjoy cycling 30 minutes there and then 30 minutes back. It\\\'s the local supermarket, one In Roermond and one in the opposite direction. If you plan to pitch up and stay make sure you have plenty of provisions.
So when we tried to leave after paying for 5 days, the staff kept us in the park for 45 minutes against our will. We had trains and planes to catch which we could have easily missed due to their disgusting behaviour. When I asked if they could open the barrier they refused point blank for 40 minutes, telling me I hadn\\\'t paid, even though I tried to tell them my name, they dismissed me and wouldn\\\'t speak to me. When my husband tried, they told him the same, you haven\\\'t paid and you will wait. We had paid in full and in cash, then a cleaner came out and started arguing with my husband saying we hadn\\\'t paid, my husband asked him to come over and speak with him, he just waved his hands and walked off. Another customer told us that the reception was closed which isn\\\'t advertised, nor is it in the information that you receive. The reception is supposed to be open all day as it states in the information but it was closed for two hours. When we finally got into reception the lady then asked our name and said everything is paid and ok. I said to her I know it is, who do you think we are? She said I had you confused with someone else, I said to her how can you when you wouldn\\\'t take my name or registration number. She then brought other staff into reception which was very intimidating. She didn\\\'t apologise, she just smiled smugly. Hers and the rest of the staffs behaviour was absolutely disgusting. We were treated like something the dog had left behind. She was the lady who the same morning wouldn\\\'t give my 10 year old son our ordered bread rolls because we had mislaid the receipt, even though we had paid.
NEVER AGAIN. Very very disappointed as the pictures look fab.
Thanks for your review. Unfortenately your stay was not as you imagined. You did get our adress from a Dutch family. A family that comes to Oolderhuuske several years and are always very happy.
On arrival your received an information package, with opening times reception (also on the door) etc.
Check out normally is before 12:00pm. If you departed before the official time, there would not be a problem at all.
Except you wanted to check out during closing times of the reception between
13.00 and 13.30pm. This is not possible. Because we Always have to check if everything is payed for.
My collegue tried to explain this, bus his English is poor, You heard that he said that you didn\\\'t pay. We did apoligise for the miscommunication and inconvenience. We are people and mistakes happen.
Again our apologies.
The toiletbuildings are cleaned every day 2/3 times.. The nearest supermarkt is by car a 5 minutes drive. All information you also can find on our website.
The reception staff were very friendly and offered us a choice of pitches, informing us that some may be waterlogged due to the heavy rain they had experienced recently. The flat, clearly marked out grassy pitches were all a good size, and included electric hook up in the price. The toilets and showers were very clean, with paper and hand soap provided. The showers appeared to be on a timer after which they simply cut out and wouldn\'t turn back on. This was not a problem once you knew that they would do that.
The site was quite noisy during the day, with radios and TVs blaring out (why are they necessary for camping?), but apart from one or two pitches it was pretty quiet in the late evening.
There was an excellent play park for the children, with a wooden boat, climbing structures and a large trampoline, but we were disappointed to find several broken beer bottles on the ground in the play area, which looked like they had been there for some time. We cleared away what we could, but they were an accident waiting to happen.
The shop on-site was open in the mornings, from which you could buy bread without pre-ordering, and there was also a restaurant, though we didn\'t try it.
€50 deposit was required for a card which controlled access through the barrier gate. Wifi was provided free of charge, and we found the signal to be excellent from our pitch.
There was a \"Jumbo\" supermarket in the nearby town of Heel, with plenty of easy parking.
Extremely well run site in lovely surroundings. Excellent toilet facilities and helpful staff. We are an older couple but play facilities for children were great. A wider range of groceries would have been helpful.
