This site is way over priced and they added on a preference and reservation charge and when I asked what this was I was told it was a local thing. Also the site is full of tents just plotted up all over the place there is a constant smell of skunk weed / cannabis even in the bar area which again drinks are over priced and as for the pitch we were allocated this was in a poor state and over grown grass there is only one chemical toilet at far end of site. I wouldn\'t stay here again if you paid me.

We had a lovely stay at Zeeburg. The staff is lovely. The restaurant is very tasty and has a nice selection. It is very backpacker friendly, with a kitchen, refrigerator, and a fully stocked store.

Everything a city campsite should be – close to the motorway for getting in, and close to the centre for visiting. Zeeburg was chilled yet full of life when we visited in March 2015. Excellent value, with a variety of large and small pitches. Friendly staff with perfect English. Showers 1 euro. Short walk to the tram stop for quick transit into central Amsterdam. Large canal runs past the site and boats rumble past at all hours. Don’t be put off by that, it’s all part of the charm of Zeeburg. Recommend this site to anyone visiting Amsterdam – with out without a camper or caravan, as it has eco-lodges and cabins too.

Note: we stayed here on a six month European tour - our blog has photos and more www.cantlays.com

Some good and bad points about this campsite. No defined plots for pitching tents - just find an available space on grassed areas and pitch there. Tents are almost touching each other. Cars cannot park next to tents. Much of the grassed area was water-logged and seemed like a bog! The reception area was well staffed but always busy with queues to be served. The shop had a fairly good supply of basic items. The restaurant served reasonable meals and has power-points near to some tables that were useful for charging phones and using the internet via the camp wi-fi. There was also live music at night. Bathrooms were reasonable. Tokens required for showers. Site very noisy at night with live music and then campers talking and shouting through the night. We had to use ear-plugs to get some sleep. Very good tram connection into Amsterdam.

The staff at this resort were fantastic! We lost our Mastercard and the staff went above and beyond to help us and were incredibly understanding that we had no money. They do sell the worst food I have ever eaten in my life and the showers were adequate. Despite minor bad points, we would definitely stay again!!!

We stayed here for 2 nights to visit Amsterdam. Stayed in our campervan with awning. Pitches were close together, so if you had young children there would be no playing room. It did say there was a beach, but that was stretching it somewhat... a small patch of sand and 'no swimming' at the side of a lake!! It was very handy for visiting Amsterdam though - short walk to tram stop and then into city. Showers were clean. The site was lively in the main square but it was quiet enough at night. The camping field was really crammed together but everyone seemed happy - a lot of young people but there was no trouble.

Travelling party: Group of friends

Two of us, cycle camping arrived early afternoon, pitched in the quiet "white flag" camping area and made use of the well supplied shop, showers and toilets - all good. We left our tents and bikes and took a short walk and tram trip to explore Amsterdam for the rest of the day, for which this site is well located.

We stayed at Zeeburg over Easter weekend when it was very busy and camping pitches were fully booked. We had to park our car in a car park away from our caravan but it was perfectly ok. Public transport into Amsterdam made it easy and cheap to explore so we had a break from driving! Personal hygiene facilities are more than adequate and we can recommend the pre-paid breakfast. On the downside, due to selfish pitching, neighbours were uncomfortably close together at some points but we accepted this as part of the busy weekend. Overall, a really good site - would book again.

Travelling party: Young couple

We visited Zeeburg in August when Zeeburg is at its busiest. Despite the site being very full we were still able to park our motorbike right next to the tent and there was ample space for our pitch. The staff were friendly and helpful although there was always a queue for reception! The bar was good and I'd recommend buying the prepaid breakfast.

Although the site was completely full, the noise level was quite low. There was a great atmosphere and friendly people from all over Europe. There is security on the gate at night and those not staying are not allowed access. There are excellent public transport links to the city centre which run right up to midnight and are very cheap, so once parked we took a break from riding! It is pretty easy to find and well signposted if arriving by road. By other means, you'd have no problem coming from Amsterdam by Plane or Train.

Very nice campsite, within half mile of trams' for centre Amsterdam, open air swimming pool within half mile, nice bar and communal area. Have been here twice and both times thouroughly enjoyed ourselves. When you arrive forget about the car and use public transport for exploring and enjoy Amsterdam at its best
