This site was recommended to us last year 2017 and we stayed for a few nights last October 2017. It was so good we came back but this time with our cycles. It is situated close to the Rotterdam to Hull boat and the Hook van Holland. It is well worth staying a few days in this area . The pitches are not small. Supemarkets are either a 5 min cycle or car ride away
We stayed at this campsite twice this year: once on the way down to Italy and again on our return journey. We wanted somewhere close to the port of arrival (Hook of Holland) and this site is only around 30-40 mins away (depending on the traffic). It is situated south of Rotterdam and approached via the industrial estates and port infrastructure…but don’t be put off. Brielle is a beautiful little town, situated at the entrance to the old canal system used to provide trade to and from Holland. It is mainly a quiet yacht and leisure craft haven and very picturesque. The site is surrounded by water (stream, meer (lake) and canal) and is a large but extremely well-run and clean site. There are quite a large number of permanent and static pitches with tourers well-catered for. The toilet blocks are clean and efficient with fob-controlled access allowing you to take showers and wash pots etc included in the pitch fee. The staff are very friendly, polite and very helpful. The pitches are well-spaced and looked after. Noise is kept to a minimum.
There is a café and social area but when we were there (end-Sept-Oct) it was closed. That didn’t matter as the town was only a few minutes’ walk from the site and had many attractions (bars, restaurants and a fabulous old town to explore) as well as historic fortifications and a working windmill!). Lots to see and do and we would suggest that it would be suited to both families and couples looking for a quiet place to prepare for a longer journey as well as to recover from a long tour before catching the ferry back to the UK – that’s what we did and didn’t regret it. We will be going again but next time will bring our bikes as there are literally miles of cycling routes around the area (flat for non-Tour of Francers!) as you would expect from the Dutch. Highly recommended.
Stayed here waiting for the harwich ferry ,great site near town ,we needed a vet for our dogs passport there's one near town ,, the pitches are large ,with great toilet fertility ,one small problem no invalided toilet but a large family shower is ,the town has a good supermarket and lots other shops
A delightful site. Easy to find using GPS coordinates. Close to old town - worth a visit. Useful for ferry (Hook).
Staff pleasant and informative. Good facilities. Quiet and peaceful.
We have been to this site on 2 occasions & going back this September. Because our ferry does not get to Hook of Holland till 1645 we can not arrive at the site untill nearly 19.00 but a phone call on arrival & someone comes to the reception to deal with us. We have allways found the staff very friendly & helpful & are looking forwards to our next visit
Large busy site. Would have been very useful if members of staff showed you to your pitch - sometimes maps are not too obvious to the newly arrived.
Access roads are not wide - you can get in and out with a caravan but coming through quite narrow town streets is not easy if locals have not parked considerately.
The nearby town, Den Brielle is delightful although I'm not sure there is a large amount to see.
