Alvor is a lovely place, it’s a shame I can’t say the same about the campsite, the touring pitches that were available in October are awful, the depths of hell is how I would describe it!! Dark, muddy, small pitches, trees in the most awkward places and the toilets are the worst I’ve come across in years. No hot water, toilet paper or seats in the 3rd class toilets, however if you walk up the hill to the first class permanent residents toilets thing improve slightly. We will NOT return.
Camping Alvor, lovely site, toilet seats, loo roll, plenty of hot (& free) water in the clean showers (they seem to have abandoned the free token system) what more could you want? We had a pitch at the bottom end of the quiet area and although bothered by a few mosquitos, we were treated to the local goat herd taking his flock of goats for a walk every evening!
Yes, the site could do with a bit of modernising, but we enjoyed the isolation of the pitches. Alvor is a lovely town with lots of choice of restaurants, excellent beach, river estuary, salt marshes & spectacular cliffs at the eastern end. The town apparently becomes VERY busy during the summer months! We will be back!
Large hillside site, with large proportion of permanent users. Space for touring pitches at far end of site. Very helpful English-speaking receptionist. Some electrical distribution boxes have higher amperage supply, so worth checking before deciding on your pitch. Short walk into Alvor town and good supermarket just around the corner from the campsite.
Beware the processionary caterpillars, they are deadly and I am suffering with an all over body rash so I am not impressed. There are a lot of the trees that attracted them and the site seems very blasé about them.
Stayed here our usual 3 nights. Found a nice pitch right down the bottom in the quiet section and it was. Small building with one toilet and one shower each, showers very good and hot, loo paper. Easy to get to Alvor and we cycled to Portimao as well. There is a pool but we didn\'t use it. We were able to get WiFi where we were pitched despite being told it\'s only round the pool. We enjoyed our stay, the only downside is the trek up to reception to get the electrics plugged in and then out when we left as they are locked.
Lovely location, near to busy seaside town with all the holiday facilities. Nice pool which is a bit extra if you want it, ideal to save money if you don\'t. Pitches fair size at the front but they shrink the deeper into the site you go.Lovely open space opposite for dog walking, town great for the evening. Free wifi poor , but it was free...2 pin plugs but good electric amps. No toilet seats, paper available but not in the cubicles........
We stayed here two nights. The campsite was ok. Nice pitches with shade, very clean bathrooms and nice staff. We had a car and drove to other beaches in the neighbourhood as Alvor beach is extremely crowded beach, the town has enough options for dinner.
After reading some earlier reviews we were a little concerned about this park, however it really is OK and a great place is Alvor. Staff friendly upon arrival, the pool great and whilst the showers are very old..like many in Portugal , they were clean and cleaned regularly. The biggest issue is with the pitches and that they are not clearly defined and near some real upkeep to at least try and level them or at least remove tree roots, fill in large holes , trim branches etc etc. the town of Alvor is a real gem and the restaurants are lively, cheap and friendly. There is not really a bus at the front door as shown..it only goes to nearby village, so it\'s a 15 minute walk into the centre of town to get the bus. Worth doing, as trips are great to all nearby towns..Lagos etc. The old town and bars etc are only a ten minute walk and there is a huge supermarket one minute away ! Would recommend and return
Very poor campsite. water was cold. the picth very small. toilets stinks. very expansive and the staff not helpfull. When you pay the night the reception don\'t give you any receipt (very weird, for sure they don\'t want to pay taxes).
nice site the toillets a bit dated but it all works the best thing is it\'s not laid out like a car park you can choose where you pitch up in the sun or under shade bit narrow in places but good the town of Alvor is close to the site and has something for all the beach if you walk to the end is Beautiful to your left by the cliffs we\'ll be back
