Site on the outskirts of the quirky El Rocio famous for the religious festival in June. Excellent facilities, but disappointing for the regimented and close pitches (probably due to their annual bonanza, the festival)! The 3.5 hour Donana national park trip in an "off-road" bus was a very interesting trip (if slightly excessive fee especially since we could only get on the Spanish speaking trip)! So book in advance!
Really nice site well laid out the Staff were friendly and very helpful pool was very good the town of Rocio was superb so many people riding horses Sunday is the best day to see this town we'll be back
Clearly many people like this site - El Rocio is definitely an interesting place to visit - Seville is a relatively easy 50min drive- the access ways within the site are very tight for larger units - concrete posts on intersection corners are a real hazard - toilet blocks are average - we (and a number of others) departed earlier than planned due to clouds of mosquitos - our least favoured site in Spain.
El Rocio is a place like no other. Most road surfaces in town are sand, there are horses everywhere and hitching posts a plenty, there's a religious festival which attracts 0.5 million people and the marshes for birdwatching. The site has decent size sand pitches, which have a kerb which makes manoeuvring a bit trickier but not impossible. You may need a long electric cable on some pitches. Toilet and shower facilities are ok but getting a bit dated. There's a small shop at the bar and you can get bread there daily. Staff helpful and friendly.
Helpful, friendly staff. Good size pitches but a bit boring. Nice bar, restaurant provides a la carte as well as menu del dia which was well priced but a bit hit and miss. Excellent Salmorejo soup to start on one day and Gazpacho the second time but mains were a bit ordinary. My squid was fine but partner's ham and cheese and breadcrumb concoction was average. Second time pork cheeks were good. El Rocio is a quirky sandy road town with accent to religion and horses. But there are also guided 4wd into national/ natural park where you may spot a Lynx but more likely the abundant bird life.
Not much English spoken including unwelcoming tourist office but town pretty unique and well worth a visit.
Large pitches with mature trees and hedges demarcating pitch. Shower blocks are large & clean. Nice pool. WiFi bought separately although you can get a few minutes in the bar. 10 min drive to beautiful beach close to National Park.
The local town is unique and a must visit on a Sunday.
Flat and level well run site with clearly marked big pitches, all on, hard packed sand. Staff really helpful and there was free WiFi in the Bar.
Toilet facilities clean and well kept.
We have been here several times before. We stayed for two weeks this time mid February. Over the years not much has changed nor has there been any amelioration. Having a shower is a challenge as most of the hooks have broken off. However it is always very clean. In wet weather, it is wiser to ask for one of the more grassy pitches along the fence. All pitches are the same, large and separated by hedges. Staff quite friendly. But eat in town as the restaurant remains awful after several years of trials. WiFi is very expensive and is very irregular. The town is fascinating, the bird life in winter outstanding. We will go back.
A nice camp site beside a very strange town, thought I was in the wild west. Pitches good for Spain, showers could do with updating, quite isolated due to river, everything requires a trip back to Seville to get anywhere. Negative is the wifi, which you have to pay for, it is not good, probably the worst we have encountered. Stayed for a week and would return.
Nice site out of season in a really nice location. ideal for visiting ElRocio and the Donana national park.
